While this is a really informative look at EVERY Beatle-written song associated with the group, I do have my qualms. Firstly, the organization doesn’t make much sense. Right when I think it’s chronological in release date, I’m seeing conflicting dates. When I think it’s in order of which songs were written, we find out some of the tracks are written years earlier than their release date (mainly for the archive album Anthology). A retrospective of this magnitude needs organization and that’s something this project is severely lacking. Also most of the early entries are “John was a tortured, sad man” and it comes off as a bit of an insincere analysis after it beats you over the head so many times.

And interesting look at the inspiration behind some of our most beloved songs.
As well as interesting bits of information and stunning pictures.
A must have for any Beatles fan.

I loved this book and if you like The Beatles, even a little bit. you will too. Even if you've only heard the melody of "Yesterday" in an elevator you know who they are. They are a part of everyone's sub-conscience.
This compilation of every album and every song on each album, done in chronological order, debunks many a myth and offers enlightening information on how each song came to be and the state of the Fab Four as well as the world when they tunes were written.
The book is begins with the red section and covers their music from their inception in 1959 through to the Revolver album, the point "when the Beatles become recording artists rather than performers." At the point their music became more experimental.
The second blue section highlights the remainder of their years together as a group, Sgt Pepper to Abbey Road.
Reading this book serves to distinguish just what a phenomenal band The Beatles were and how at a young age were pressured to produce music quickly. Download your favorite music App and listen to each song after you've read how it was written and the nuances of the music as it was developed. Your appreciation for The Beatles will surely grow.

Um ótimo livro de colecionador. Não tem historias tão profundas para quem já sabe tudo, acredito ser um ótimo livro introdutório para quem deseja saber mais sobre os Beatles e suas composições.

This is probably something that is better used as a reference book rather than something you can read all the way through.

wow... another band, another complete discography i have gone through. the beatles are truly amazing, like the innovation, the people themselves... i know the word "iconic" gets used so much these days that it almost has no meaning--but for this band it's fitting. this book gave me enough backstory for the songs without going too much into production and bogging down my movement through all of their songs. my one qualm was not going a little too deep into the actual beatles' personal lives and kind of informing the reader about how their lives changed from album to album BUT i guess the book really only focuses on the songs themselves, so i can't fault it too much. still an enjoyable read and really got me through all of their songs!!

Includes a tidbit for the story behind every Beatles song. Great book to have if you're a Beatles fan.

I loved this book. It finally proved to my father and sister that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was based on a painting by Julian Lennon and not an LSD trip. I loved hearing the stories that caused the songs to come to life, especially the story about I am the Walrus.
