Ward D by Freida McFadden
4.0
I've read so many of McFadden's works and this one is so great! It finally broke the predictable formula! I made a BINGO game to follow along with her books and this was the first one I wasn't anyway near a bingo. It was so well done. Not knowing who to trust is common in McFadden's works but this kept changing so often I was reeling trying to come up with the answer before the ending. I only gave five instead of four just based on how probable this would be in real life. I'm not sure if this ward is up to code but overall I really enjoyed this book!
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I put this book off for a while because I was worried the hype would be unwarranted or I wouldn't know enough about the similarities between this band and Fleetwood Mac. With that said, I really liked this book! I think it showed how fast things can get you famous but also how fast addiction can catch up with you. There is sooo much tension! I haven't watched the show yet but I can't wait to see how it compares.
The Never King by Nikki St. Crowe

Interesting take on Peter Pan. Very naughty! I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into but it was a fast paced read. I posted about some of the acts in my private story and had a lot of excited readers ask for the book title. You heathens are welcome, btw
Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister

An unexpected tale of the triumph of love and the uncertainty of time travel. If you could go back in time to stop a crime, would you? How do stop it? How much can you alter time to end up back at the right future?
The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner

Have you ever watched a child play with one of those 3D puzzle toys? The ones with wooden beads on wire tracks? They are so enthralled with the movement of the toy. The joy spread across their face mixed with concentration. Witnessing that is more entertaining and fulfilling than reading this book. I kept waiting to "get to the good part" It never came.
Uncultured by Daniella Mestyanek Young

Daniella has achieved amazing things in her life. She truly is an incredible woman and she is so strong. Knowing where she started, how hard she fought for the life she has now makes those achievements seem even more substantial. The beginning of the book is difficult to get through. CSA is a hard subject no matter what but at the scale it was happening within "The Family" truly breaks my heart.
A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty by Stacia Stark

This is a great sequel and beautiful story. I have a hard time with wartime strategy though. I'm like the derpy hyena from The Lion King when that is happening and I can't remember who's who, or why we're fighting but it wasn't too bad. Overall, I would recommend this series to anyone interested in romantasy that needs something akin to ACOTAR once they've finished it but still need more
Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler

My friends and I chose this for a book club and it was very thought provoking and we learned a lot about each others views and religious backgrounds.

This is how my mind is during ovulation week. Dirty. Rotten. Filthy. Primal.
Hot Vampire Next Door: Season One by Nikki St. Crowe
3.0
I was drawn in by the title. I would love a hot vampire next door as well! I just don't feel like the story was well written. The writing style felt different from St. Crowe's Pan series which I have also been exploring. I might give the sequel a try and see if I can continue with the storyline
