I’d seen this book around and, based on the way people talked about it, thought it wasn’t really for me. I’m glad I was pushed into reading it anyway! This book was not at all what I expected and I greatly enjoyed it.

This is the first book in a while that severely tempted me to stay up late reading. I really didn’t want to put it down.

These books are incredibly important! This was a great ending to the trilogy.

Reading this book for the first time in the summer of 2024 is an exceptionally wild experience. Overall, it’s exactly what you expect out of Sanderson, with the politics and religious commentary being even more front and center than before.

This was very enjoyable. I liked the characters and the big twist was even bigger than I expected. Despite the slightly grotesque aesthetic (that’s a good thing) and the fairly heavy themes in places, it was really sweet.

Actually a really good sequel. In the middle I thought he was going to lose me on the philosophy front, but I should not have doubted Brandon Sanderson!

This book was recommended to me, and I knew going in that it was southern gothic horror. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of humor! I liked the mix of humor and horror; it was really well done. I don’t normally do a lot of horror, but if all T. Kingfisher’s books have this much humor mixed in, then I could read more!
