The Farther Shore by Christie Golden

Did not finish book. Stopped at 36%.
I enjoyed book 1 of this 2-part series, but this one stretched out the story lines for too long. It was boring in parts, and I found myself not caring about what happened. It also had some pretty dark and problematic scenes. DNF'ing this, and going to try Full Circle.

I read this for a book club. The plot line follows similar themes to Legends & Lattes. Two worn out fantasy heroes need a break and move to a little town to open a tea & book shop. It was too slow for me at first. I could’ve used a lot less about the shop renovations. However, once the shop was up and running I got into it. There was adventure, dragons, sapphic romance, and found family. I appreciated that this was a romance where the two MCs were already in a relationship, and opening the tea shop brought it to the next level. I’m looking forward to the sequel.

I recently got into Star Wars books on audio. They’re so good! And that got me thinking…are Star Trek books good, too? I love Voyager, so I chose this one to start exploring. It takes place immediately after the last episode of Voyager. As a fan of the show, I really enjoyed this book. Since I know the characters so well, reading the book was a lot like watching an episode, because I could see and hear all of the characters in my head clearly. The writing was fine, not the best, but this was definitely a pleasure-read for me.
CW: there are random short chapters that depict child abuse. I skipped them completely and still enjoyed the story.

This is the third in the Juliet Tilney & Mr. Darcy Mysteries. This was my favorite of the series so far, and it ended way too soon for me. I wanted to stay at Rosings with this cast of characters!

I really enjoyed this book. I think “bonkers” might be part of my reading wheelhouse. I love it when things get a bit of the rails, and they do in this story. But, for me, it all led to a satisfying conclusion. Great read.

I couldn’t put this book down. It was a great distraction. I love a bonkers sci-fi. The Southwest roadtrip was a fun setting, and I enjoyed the kindness and heart of the main character.

This was a fun middle-grade story. It had all my reading catnip: a nerdy girl, a hotel, puzzles, mystery, found family, and a little bit of magic.

I absolutely loved this book. It was slow to start, but I was drawn to the characters (Eleanor Roosevelt and Mary McLeod Bethune). I learned so much about what these two women accomplished during the Roosevelt presidential years. This one gave me West Wing vibes, so if you like that show it’s a good comp.

I’m re-reading this series before reading book 4. I loved being in the world of The Thursday Murder Club again. Richard Osman writes with thought, beauty, and humor. This is a great series if you usually read literary fiction, but want to dip your toe into mysteries.
