The Co-op by Tarah DeWitt

Unfortunately I could just not get into this story. I usually enjoy a dual timeline for a second chance romance but in this case I don’t feel like it added to the story. It often pulled me out of getting into a groove with the present tense. I found the characters bickering to be over the top at times. I wanted to like this book as I’ve enjoyed others by Tarah but this one was just not for me.

I found this book to be difficult to get through due to the subject matter. There is a heavy focus on substance use and toxic relationships. Both topics are detailed and not just glossed over.  I also found the writing to be at times clunky and hard to get through. The chapters were quite lengthy.

This book is slowest of burns almost times two. I liked Reed and Lila. They are both two soft souls who needed to find each other. Despite the challenges they faced I felt that they were clearly well matched. For me I felt that the burn lasted too long same with the
third act breakup
. While this was not the strongest book in the series I did enjoy the story. It was nice getting little glimpses into Cal and Grace’s future (same for Maddie and James). I recommend this for fans of slooow burns and a little forbidden temptation.

AL Jackson really delivers a quality romantic suspense story. This book had me on the edge of my seat. I could not stop turning to see what would happen next. I liked Charleigh and River, they just had this magnetic connection right from the start. River saw her and wanted to keep her safe. Honorable mention to Nolan who was the absolutely cutest. I do feel that the suspenseful plotline overshadowed the romance slightly. Charleigh and River needed a little more time for that deep connection to be more compelling. I am honestly more excited to see Raven and Otto’s story play out in book 2. This book is perfect for fans of a morally gray and protective mmc.

The Kings series has really been top notch. I loved the suspenseful/mystery aspect to this book. It was a nice addition. I liked Royal and Veda’s story. Those two just fit together and balanced each other out. Here for the “don’t be mean to me or I’ll fall in love you” vibes. I loved that Royal was not what he seemed like on the surface from the other Sullivan and King books. He really is a tattooed golden retriever (Taylor Swift nailed it). The mystery was woven through nicely without detracting from the romance, it was really well balanced. I am super intrigued to see were things go for JP in the next one.

I am such a sucker for a single dad x nanny romance. This book was fabulous and honestly the star of the show was Clara. She was such a sweet and bold kiddo in the best way. I really enjoyed watching Dean and Liv’s relationship evolve and unfold. Their immediate connection grew into this beautiful and meaningful bond. The dual POV really added to the tension with the pining and resistance. Seeing both open up to one another and be vulnerable was moving. Dean, Liv, and Clara become this adorable little family so quickly. Fans of Love Unwritten by Lauren Asher will enjoy this grumpy billionaire single dad x nanny romance.

I just love this series! This group of single dad football players is just the best. They are so open supportive and loving. The found family vibes are top tier. I really enjoyed Henley and Tru’s story. We love a little forbidden age gap moment with her being his daughter’s teacher. I felt like the barriers were realistic. I appreciated how upfront and honest Henley was about his feelings while letting Tru set the pace. I think that they did a great job of being what the other needed. My favorite scenes were with all the guys, they are the cutest little family. I am very excited to see where thing go next for this group! The single dad and sports romance girlies will eat this up.

I found that this book was missing something. It covers deeper topics a like grief and domestic violence but it lacks deep development of the romantic plotline. I think that both character’s back stories were handled well and realistic. I was left wanting to see more of that deep connection developing between Eli and Willow- it fell flat to me, felt more surface level. I think fans of Rein Me In by Kayla Grosse will enjoy this book.

A Legend in the Baking by Jamie Wesley

Did not finish book. Stopped at 66%.
I found the complete lack of communication between the two characters to be so frustrating. 66% of the way in and all they have done is mildly pine for each other without a single conversation to acknowledge feelings. I wanted to enjoy this story more but I found it hard to be invested when not much plot had happened (or character development).

“Tell me a lie.” “Tell me a secret.” Well let me tell you Devney has done it again, this book is excellent! I could not out the book down. I loved Jax and Sasha. It was beautiful seeing their relationship grow and evolve throughout the book. Jax was just so steady making sure Sasha knew he was there and that she could count on him. His consistent caretaking was swoony. Sasha was unsure of herself but finally found herself a family again. I appreciated that both characters had been through some things but found ways to support the other and what they needed. Even haters of the accidental pregnancy trope will find themselves enthralled in this story with such compelling writing. This book is a must read for fans of her previous work.
