i dont have the words to express how this book made and still makes me feel. the sheer emotional impact is unparalleled. no review can do justice to this work of art

definitely felt their love, sadness and frustration to the bones.
even though it's not a huge part of the story, i loved how the flashbacks not only contributed to the overall understanding of the secondary characters but helped the reader better comprehend the issues regarding race, gender and sexual orientation of the time period. we love a book who trusts their readers
