la réflexion sur les liens générationnels, le deuil et le motherhood des familles afroaméricaines est absolument excellente. l'intégration de leur histoire et traditions spirituelles fait en sorte que ce livre me semble être bien plus qu'un simple YA fantasy novel. my god this was good and did not feel childish at all

wait wait wait wait. this guy literally paid his drug debt by selling the MC’s body when she was underaged and somehow he’s a love interest??? please tell me i read that wrong.

and the depiction of eating disorders is absolutely problematic. a lot of takes in this book are harmful and contribute to the overall misunderstanding and stigmatisation of mental health issues. can’t believe this book got published
