the writing style of how it was written as a documentary, the characters, the fact that the author is billy and camilla’s daughter, golden. i loved this book more than i thought i would’ve. made me want to cry in some spots. binge read this one so quickly

in my opinion, the weakest book yet. it was a really slow start for me to read, really slow middle, and then i read the ending quickly because i wanted to know how it ended and what led to the next book.

very good. was surprised to see that this was the last book, i was so sure there was another. upsetting that cal and mare didn’t end up together and realistically i know that it was a smart decision for both of them but it still sucks knowing the two people we were rooting for the entire series didn’t end up together but that’s life sometimes.

multiple parts made me cry. especially when cal was giving up the crown and was talking to julian. he was talking about his mother and it was so sweet. the ending, of course, made me cry.

finished this in less than 3 days. amazing. wonderful. gripping. i understand the hype. usually i don’t go things that gain huge amounts of popularity quickly because i dont want to be left disappointed. this did not leave me disappointed. although, i did give this book 4 stars.

the pacing seemed off to me. it was just very fast. TO BE FAIR, i just finished reading the Red Queen series which the pacing was much slower and i felt like it was accurate. multiple chapters could be explaining about events that took place in a single day, where as we skipped weeks in between chapters in this book. so, compared to what i’ve been reading for the last few months, this could be considered fast pacing. i just felt like feyre fell way too fast for tamlin considering her past and how much hatred she had for their kind. i could’ve used a little more slow burn because otherwise, it feels a little disingenuous. nonetheless, it was very good and kept me hooked throughout the book.

i get it’s only a novella, an inbetween books in the series and it’s like a filler but this was boring as shit. had to force myself to get through it. i understand the thought and meaning behind it, that feyre had to go through much character development to understand her fire for others and try to help them, that nesta is depressed and sinking into herself blah blah blah. just boring.
