loved it! not as good as the first one but it’s still so good. the progression between nina and matthias is so adorable. matthias’s death was SO upsetting! especially when they were all saying goodbye to each other and they laid him down with flowers. i wish we got to see more of jesper and wylan. they’re probably my favorite couple throughout the series. i’m glad they ended up living together though. kaz and inej i feel would never work out in the end, but they clearly care very deeply about each other which is very sweet.

the problems i had were that i was confusing the names of each villian up. two of them started with p’s and i was too stupid to realize they were different people lol.

i read six or crows first, and this book was not as exhilarating as that. it was still enjoyable, but i was not on the edge of my seat at all.

mal and alina are very cute together. i’m glad they ended up alive and together .

i feel bad because right after the scene where the darkling and alina go to the dark room and kiss during the winter festival, i was on his side and wanted them to end up together lol. then almost immediately after i found out he’s the fucking villian so now i’m embarrassed i didn’t catch on sooner.

i’m still very excited to read the next two books in the trilogy though. then after i read them, i’m going to watch the netflix series (that just got cancelled which is so upsetting)

i was very excited to read this book at first because everybody on tiktok talked so highly of it and loved it. it was a romantasy and i’m really into those right now. they loved the banter and just fell in love with the two main characters. i did not have the same experience.

i enjoyed the first half of this book and was interested by the plot. although the constant banter became too much and pulled me away from the book. it seemed so unrealistic with how she was constantly pushing him against walls or trees and threatening him with a dagger against his throat. it was just too cheesy for me and i didn’t enjoy it.

i liked the scenes of them together in the first trial, where she stumbled upon him hurt and nearly dying and his mask fell because he was so genuinely worried for her.

i like an enemies to lovers story so the way they flirted constantly was not it for me. it wasn’t bad writing or anything, just a preference. he was too into her from the start for me to enjoy it.

i stopped reading more than halfway through because i lost interest and motivation to keep reading. then i bought 9 new books and wanted to read those, but i didn’t wanna DNF this one because i was almost finished with it. so i pushed through and started to pick it up and read it again.

i got to the point where Kai and Pae were standing in the rain at the ball, about to kiss and that’s when i got real interested. that scene had a grip on me and it was so romantic and so cute. then the final trial happened and boy was that fucking wild. i don’t know what i was expecting but it wasn’t having Adena at the end of the maze for them to kill. i’m still waiting on that blair death scene.

then when shit hits the fan and Pae kills the king and Kai doesn’t want to kill her. ugh now i really want to read the second book.

so i have this book 3 stars because i did lose interest in the middle just because of the constant back and forth between them and how it was painfully obvious they were into each other and how cheesy it was. although the beginning and end were gravitating. i will buy the second book when it comes out later this year.

the love between the two characters. the growth that Seren has to go through to change her perception of herself and to accept who she was and who she is now. i love this book with all of my heart.

very interesting and enjoyable. detailed about how her mom physically, mentally, and emotionally abused her as a child but she never really wanted to believe it until she was in her late 20’s.

i really enjoyed this book more than i couldve ever imagined. it was gory, gross, inhumane, disturbing and all around disgusting but it was actually so intriguing. it did take me a while to finish it because i had to take small breaks from reading it. not because it was too gross, but i did get pulled out of it from time to time. i couldn’t immerse myself into it fully. but towards the last few obstacles, i was really interested. i even had my mouth wide open at some points because it did have small twists where i wasn’t expecting who died and how they died. some parts were just so fucked up that it’s hard to imagine the kind that thought of it to began with. it was so good though.

the only problem i had was when i turned the page, i was greeted with a picture of a death that i hadn’t read about yet which was extremely disappointing to see because even though it would’ve taken me a few seconds to figure out who died and how, it was still a spoiler nonetheless and that really bothered me. it probably was a publication issue but it was still a spoiler.

the ending, i think could have ended with the kids/parents dying and she just keeps running new playground traps
