This my first book of 2024! At first i was like wow this book is 5 🌟 but as i let it simmer and settle i realized this book was lacking a lot (this is why i wait a few days/weeks to post the review because i need to digest the content).

Plot + Writting + Conflicts
First i want to say that i was NOT a fan of the writting style. Some things were way too descriptive when it wasnt necessary and it kept distracting me from the story. The Plot was fast paced yet slow at the same time and i think it was because the book was very repetitive. There is DUO POV and DUO TIMELINE. I did have a theory about 2 of the plot twists and i was right (not necessarily a bad thing but it does bump it down a star). So from 5 🌟 to 4 🌟 becuase of predictability, now the other half star was because of the writting style. i know that writting shouldn't play a part in a rating but it did because it truely distracted me from the story, so from 4 🌟 to 3.5 🌟.

Characters
Drew is soooo annoying and deserved everything he had coming to him. In the first 2 or 3 chapters you learn hes having an affair and cheating on his wife Fern. Drew is constantly making excuses to himself about his affair and how he can continue the affair forever. He also says how he will never get a divorce because hes a doctor and it would ruin his reputation like what?!?!? Maybe try working out your issues with your wife first before you go to plan b and cheat? Drew is NOT a likeable character at all. Fern? I liked her but lowkey she went to far lmao but at the same time who can blame her when theres a preup involved LOL. I was rooting for alice but it was inevitable and she brought it all upon herself.

Positives
Again i really liked fern and her character developement. Like i said this did feel slow and repetitive at times but once the plot twist hit, i was in for  ride! The plot twists kept coming left and right, especially during the DUO TIMELINE. and the last few chapter were insane but again i did predict what was going to happen to rory because he was a lose end that needed to be tied up. I liked Rory's character as well especially durinng the plot twists, his character played a big role in EVERYTHING.

Overall Thoughts
Overall i did enjoy this book and i did enjoy MOST of the characters 😂. I just  wanted a little more from this story and i wanted more from the characters. 3.5 🌟 isnt bad but i wont be reading this book again. I think i would recommend it to anyone who wants to dabble in the thriller genre because this is a great place to start!

3.5⭐️!
I love the sneaking around, the jokes made and i love all the characters. This book is basically based on the fact that Aurora has daddy issues lol and so does Russ. This book was good but there was a lot of frustrating things about the story line. Aurora was lowkey desperate but Russ was also too shy to admit anything and he does have a hard time letting people in. Aurora gave me the ick early on in the book when she said that she can go to any guy because she craves attention where she can get it (im pulling from memory because i cant find what page its on). Russ’ dad’s gambling addiction was sad to read. An invisible addiction to the world but as real as any addiction to those close and i do believe it was portrayed well in this book. It didn't overshadow the love story but showed what it can do to the family around. I think my favorite part of the story is the fact that the dogs named after fish including a dog named fish😂. Now lets move on to the epilogue! I love that the epilogue was “omg we have so many furry babies” instead of “omg were pregnant with a 2 year old” lol im tired of the pregnancy epilogues. Lastly Aurora is relatable when she said this to Russ “ thank you for letting me bring pets home even when you say no”😂
All in all i liked this book and i did think it was a great pallet cleanser but icebreaker was definitely much better. In regard to recommending this book id say its a 50/50. i can see people thinking this book is boring or not worth reading. I enjoyed this book and read it in 3 days. Also this book is my #50 read of the year 🥳

3.25⭐️ I love love loveeeee fake dating tropes!! It’s 100% one of my favorites!! And my second favorite is enemies to lovers, the banter is amazing! In my opinion, this book was a little too long (82 chapters😖)and the insta love isn’t my favorite. I did feel like hazel wasn’t my favorite character in a book but Rory is so sweet and he gets tattoos to remind him of her?! Where can I find one like him wth😭. Im so happy this book did not have a 3rd-act breakup!! This book was adorable and it did have a few of my all time favorite tropes. I can’t wait to continue my journey with sports romance!! 🥰

This book was cute but the overuse of the nickname “songbird” was a little overkill. I loved the secret attraction towards each other without the other knowing. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the insta love but that’s a personal problem 😅. But I love love love books with dogs in them, it’s just sooooo cute! The spice was so spicy 🤪. Now let’s talk about her ex because that boyyyy had me fuming, such a douche for everything he has done to pippa. This book was okay but I don’t think I will read it again. Im trying to read more sports romance so this was a good start❤️

3.5⭐️ this book was good but there were a little too many cringe phrases. at first i questioned if i was going to like this book because the MMC gave me the ick but he had a good redemption!! Im excited to read the next book!! The F1 Romance is such a vibe and a different take to Sports romance that i enjoyed and it was so refreshing !🥰
