This might be my favourite book of hers so far. It was sweet and I flew through it. Clara got on my nerves but other than that, I liked all the other characters and the plot was unrealistic but interesting.

The ending as usual was pretty good. A decent twist and an action packed conclusion. But the rest dragged for me. The first 3/4 just felt boring. I struggled to get into it. I also don’t like that I have to read the prequel now instead of just continuing on with the cool ending into the next chronological book. I might read some other things to break it up first. But i also don’t want to forget what happened so I can’t be too long. Especially since I have to read the prequel first.

This one fell a bit flat for me. The reveals didn’t leave me super gobsmacked and the main character was quite annoying.

Wow, I thought I had clocked it halfway through. Absolutely not. Such a good twist, and another, and another!

Did I love this series as much as the Cruel Prince? I don’t know. It was more emotional, more romantic for sure. I loved reading from the perspectives of both Wren and Oak and the ending really had me hooked. It felt maybe a bit slow going but still great.
