I am a black cis queer woman of jamaican descent. I am a nurse who cares for people with autism. I have qualms with the descriptions used. I dont know if this was the intention or not but to repeatedly suggest higher functioning disabled people can live a full life feels abolish. The religious spirit aspect came off as magical autistic stereotype. I truly felt like the authors intention was not this but only expressing her experience the character is based on a family member from what I remember her telling me but even quote on quote high functioning autistic people vary on a spectrum. The points of forcing physical intimacy and situations don't just go away because of love or wanting them to. The character struggled but realistically always will even with people she trusts or are familiar to her. I feel really strange after reading this book.

The pros had everything to do with the plot not including what I mentioned above like sibling love, navigating dating and relationships, independence, abandonment even forgiving and reconnecting, loss of parents, etc that are challenging for anyone.

The beginning of the story was very slow for me. With the introduction to the new world but I love the map and the art visuals I recieved. I wanted more juana and lu wlw time like santi kissed everyone so I wanted the same for the girls. I appreciate the diversity in sexuality and love not being weird or wrong in this world of pirates. I do wish some parts were expounded on and cut out that was not as interesting.

There are many stories here that are relatable funny and heartbreaking. This book reminds of of " the sex lives of African women" i am first generation Jamaican not nigerian in anyway but I feel connected to these fictional people because I feel like there are many nonfictional truths to it.

Mia is the most annoying character i have ever read and I feel like the author did that intentionally. Al and kal are my favorites. Viper is scum. So much drama triggers and corruption. Mix of magical elements.

This is my first novel by Genesis. I found myself laughing at a lot of the scenarios. The smut was divine. I highly recommend this stand alone to start this authors work. I enjoyed making a playlist for the books and getting into lucky daye.

The first five chapters about were slow to get into. Then it became interesting. I believe it takes a second for the world to make sense. I did not see where certain characters roles were going but I like the outcome. I know there is a book 2 but not sure if I want to check it out yet.

This book is your usual black romance short and sweet. My qualms are the spelling errors. Every page I was confused if anyone read over this. I'm not a fan of the use of the word bipolar to describe anything as a person with lived experiences. Otherwise most of the smut was off scene or very short which was disappointing.
