This book was a rollercoaster of emotions. I went back and worth between anger at the unfairness and judgment passed on mothers to sadness for the circumstances women have to endure to meet societal standards. Thought provoking and triggering at the same time. This is a book that will stick with me. Highly recommend to everyone looking to jump into dystopian storylines and morally gray characters.

“Never underestimate the power of grief, Holly,” she said, quieter now. “It may be one of the deadliest poisons of all.”

This book touches on mental illness and grief in very poignant ways. The esthetic of the book was beautiful and dark. Gothic and floral and mysterious. The story’s premise was good and the chapters flowed very well however I pacing of suspense didn’t really pick up for me until the very end. Overall this was an intriguing read.

I can’t stop thinking about the depths this novel explores. Engaging, fast paced, and enthralling from start to finish. Definitely recommending this as a must read going forward.

A cozy mystery set at an Elvis concert in the early 1950s. This is book number five in a series, however it can be enjoyed as a stand alone.

A photo journalist, named Orlando Belmonte, is found dead on stage at the end of an Elvis concert. Rosa Reed is a private investigator and former police officer at a time in history when women were not prominent in that industry. She’s a take charge personality and good at her job. Rosa is hired by her cop ex boyfriend to investigate the death of the photographer. Will Rosa be able to solve this mystery while working side by side with her ex?

This was a quick cozy mystery. I enjoyed the throw back setting of the 1950s and nods to early rock n roll.
