I am really glad I started this year’s reading journey with a book that dove deep into self work and reflective importance. The author also narrated the audio version and hearing her speak her story and all it’s truth was powerful. I really enjoyed the book in its entirety.

This book was a giveaway win through goodreads.

I read this book with my daughter who is eight. We loved how encouraging and positive the book was. The length and cadence of the book was enjoyable. I think it would make a great elementary grade graduation gift.

A very big thank you to Goodreads. This was a giveaway win and I loved reading it.

Ramona is a wife, working mom of two, and a project manager. Hurricane Matthew is predicted as a category 4 storm and is causing emergency evacuations for the area. Adding to the chaos, Ramona comes home early after picking up her daughter early from the sitter only to find her husband of 18 years cheating on her in their home.

Six months prior to the hurricane and cheating discovery, Ramona learns that Prince has died and her emotions reminded me of mine. (Prince dying was profoundly sad for me.) Ramona rushes out of the house after discovering the infidelity to pick up her first grade son from school. While leaving the school, she is informed by her son’s teacher that the class pet is scheduled to go home with them this weekend. It’s one thing after another in Ramona’s spiraling world and the hurricane is just one more thing to get through.

I loved how relatable the main character is and how the author gave Ramona a range of real emotions. As women we juggle so much and sometimes it’s a lot to manage. But life doesn’t stop because we’re overwhelmed and Ramona handles it all in  relatable and honest ways. I loved the all prince references and will definitely be recommending this book to friends.
