Covenant is an incredible story. Rich in plot and characters, art and fantasy. Darkness and ambition. It's just perfect. What stands out the most is the art. It is fascinating to witness, the way in which the paintings become more and more intense, more captivating and manages to leave a tinge of beauty in each graphic.

The plot has a lot ahead of it, I can already feel the chaos reaching the readers with a lot of drama and action. The story of Sunny & Ezra has infinite potential and without a doubt it will leave readers with their mouths open on more than one occasion. I can feel it.

It makes me very happy that this graphic novel is finally going to be published so that even more readers can learn about it.

Thanks NetGalley & Oni Press for this ARC!

Secrecy and obsession are intertwined in the poetic prose that the author gives us to tell a story of freedom, passion and discoveries. A plot that flows organically into a tunnel of darkness and history. You can glimpse the obsessive moments between the characters, almost sickening to witness, until they converge in a round trip of fresh eroticism and new paths.

An Education in Malice is a story of raw obsession; of toxic relationships that grow because of it to transform into something purer, more sentimental. Thanks to the beautiful combination of words, the author manages to give us extensive knowledge of the characters; their fears and fetishes, fantasies and memories. Three characters different from each other, excellently characterized and with much more to tell. The relationship of these three characters was fascinating to read because you could feel every situation and delirium they witnessed. Especially the relationship between a student and her teacher. Toxic and demanding, full of hunger and pain, loneliness and nostalgia, it converges towards a hopeful and even inspiring ending.

The setting is what stands out the most. Academic and gloomy, with those Gothic overtones that made everything seem older and more lonely. Simply brilliant.

I dare say that the ending felt a little bit rushed and predictable. I expected to find more chaos. You could easily glimpse the "happy ending". It was as if all that toxic obsession had been lost, as if the characters' feelings had stopped working. I think with what a great start the story has, it's a little disappointing that it ends so mundanely.

CW: uneven power dynamics, inappropriate relationships between a professor and students, toxic academic environments, blood, gore, murder, consensual sexual content (including public sex), kink (negotiated and spontaneous), alcohol and drug use, smoking, racist policies, homophobia and religious discrimination against women.
