5 stars for this amazing book.
Where do I even begin? This book touched my heart. It literally made my heart hurt at some points for Paul and Olivia. I loved learning about the damage that war does to veterans, because a lot of times it is overlooked and disregarded. This book goes into depth about the damage war really does to a person. So here's Paul's story..
Paul has been home for 2 years since he was ambushed in Afghanistan during the war. Paul has some nasty scars on his face, and a bad leg. Paul has a hard time deal with this since he was so gorgeous and perfect before. He was the star quarterback in high school, and had no trouble with girls, and was happy when he went off to serve his country. Now he is down right miserable. His father has "caregivers" come and live with him to hopefully get Paul out of this rut he is in. Paul scares every single one of them off because that's what Paul does; he pushes people away. But Paul's dad warns him that if he runs this one off, he doesn't get his checks from his dad to support him financially. This is a big deal for Paul, and not for a shallow reason, he needs these checks for a purpose. Not gonna spoil why, you will have to read the book. Anyway, Daddy is smart. So incomes Paul's new caregiver... Olivia Middleton.
So Olivia's story..
Hot 22 year old blonde Rich kid from New York, has a New York life.. but it's not a simple, fun life for Olivia. Being an only child in a family that runs a business is a lot of pressure. She was attending NYU for business, but just couldn't finish it. She felt like she was doing what her parents wanted, not what she wanted. She needed a break, and mostly needed to get away from New York, and the people in it. After a devastating breakup with her longtime ex Ethan, and the strange friendship her and Michael had/lost, New York is not where she wants or needs to be right now. So she gets offered to be a caregiver in Maine to what she presumes is an old wrinkly war vet that needs help and company.. Oh was she so wrong.
Paul and Liv's attraction is instant. I love instant attraction in books. The minute they met I knew I was in for a good ride. The best part of this book is they make each other better people. I like how they don't jump right into things, and that there is a lot of arguing going on. And while some people may say Paul was a total ass (which he was), please keep in mind he is a veteran who obviously has a severe case of PTSD, and is still hurting inside. Olivia makes Paul feel things he hasn't felt in a long time. Paul makes Olivia feel a way she never has before... not with Ethan, Michael, anyone.
I loved the writing style of this book. Everything was smooth and easy to understand but it also kept you on your toes. I loved how the author threw some things in the novel that made you go "WTF I can NOT believe he/she just did that". The dual point of views really benefited this book well. I know if we hadn't got the chance to see into Paul's head, we would have never truly understood him or liked him. Props to Lauren Layne for doing he research on the scary facts of war and what it does to people. Makes me wonder if she had someone close to her go through what Paul did because she described everything so well and in depth. I highly recommend this book. I read it in less than 24 hours it was so amazing.

Rules of Protection by Alison Bliss

4.5 stars for an alluring, captivating read about a city girl who saw too much, and southern Texas boy who ends up being her knight and shining armor.
This was such a great, intense read for me. This book is about Emily Foster. It's her 24th birthday and she just wants to go to the club with her friends, have some drinks and maybe, just maybe pick up a nice hottie at the club. After trying to ditch a guy who can't understand the word no, she runs into a man that makes her mind spin. Jake kisses Emily in the club to run off her stalker and make him think she's here with someone. But after that kiss, a girl needs more. Emily goes to look for Jake but accidently ends up in the wrong room and see's a mafia meeting gone wrong. Emily ends up getting away and must be put in witness protection because she is a witness of a murder. Then she finds out, hot guy Jake from the club? Undercover FBI agent. Things get worse before they get better, but before you know it she's in Texas trying to hide out for her life. Things get hotter between her and Jake and they both are so stubborn and crazy they can't seem to shake one another.
I loved the obvious sexual tension and chemistry between the two characters. Being from the south, I enjoyed reading some of the ridiculous slogans we say down here, and the cute, southern charms we have. It made me smile to see how much the author embraced her southern roots. I enjoyed the whole on the run thing, because it was thrilling and always made you sit up and think OMG they are gonna die. The reason for 4 starts instead of 5 is because of two things.
For starters, it bugged the piss out of me we never knew Emily's real name. If I am not mistaken her real name was not ever once mentioned in the book, even by her friends in the club. They never called her name! Unless I over read it but I am 99% positive I didn't. That just really bothered me. I understand she had to get a new identity, but we didnt get much to know about the old her, other than the truth behind her parents and all that.
The second reason for not 5 stars, is because while I loved the funny and cute bickering, there were times where I was like seriously? They are arguing over this??? I feel like there were one or two many scenes of arguments where they should have just been kissing or having sex. Or just not arguing. I do realize the point of the arguing was to show how stubborn each other really were and to lead up to the big moment, but after a while I was like can we just stop already? Wasn't a huge issue for me, just wish it had been cut down some.
One thing I really enjoyed about the book was the side characters. Floss and Cowboy were easily my favorite side characters in the book. Floss was so headstrong and a tough damn lady. Cowboy made me laugh so much and he was such a great guy. I would love to see a book for Cowboy!
Overall this is a wonderful, intriguing, sexy read. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance with something else to go with it.

Disfigured Love by Georgia Le Carre
4.0
4 stars for this amazing book! I am a huge fan of Georgia Le Carre. I read all of her Billionaire Banker books, so I was stoked when I read the blurb for this and saw she was the author. I give it four stars and not five just because I think we should have gotten more perspective from Guy and could have dug into his emotions about Lena, and his wife and child more. I feel like we were a little cheated out of him, should have been give more information about him and got to know him better and his feelings more. Regardless, he was a great character and I enjoyed what we did get to know from him. He is like a drug, what you get isn't enough, so you are stuck reeling for more. Lena was perfect. I loved the background and story we got from her, it made her character all the more real and relatable. I could tell the author really did her research on sex trafficking and I was trembling while reading some parts of the book. This book was more than a romance between two characters, I can't even explain it. Wonderful read, I do recommend!

After reading this one and the first one, I can't decide if I love Reel or Rod more! They are both fantastic.
In Over Her Head: A Contemporary Light-Paranormal Royal RomCom by Judi Fennell

This is easily, if not the best Mermaid series I have EVER read.
I loved this book, everything about it! It was a flawless read for me. I am dissapointed that Reel and Erica's story is standalone, but the next one about his brother Rod sounds amazing too.
I loved the author's writing style. I could picture everything she described. Ever seen Atlantis on the Little Mermaid (Disney)? Yeah well imagine that but ten times more golden and beautiful. Fennell never wrote a boring chapter and never filled in parts of her story with unnecesarry descriptions because she didn't know what to write about. Some people I noticed in the reviews below, did not like the other sea creatures being able to talk like the mers and humans, but that made the story all the more intersting to me. The side characters like Chum, were funy and great pals to have along the way.
So REEEEEELLL.
God he's hot. Dark lucious curly hair with emerald green eyes and a sick pack and a nice package too? Oh I think I just drooled on the keyboard. He was so MAN. And also the best Mer man. I also liked the fact Reel had legs, it made him different from everyone else and gave me a focus other than just mermaids I had read about in previous books.
ERRRIICKKKAA.
She was a wonderful character. Tan with long legs and brown hair with eyes as blue as the Carribean. I loved her because she was spunky. My favorite thing about her was getting to see her become more sure of herself and brave. She changed so much throughout the novel. With everything this girl was faced with (and hades was she faced with a lot, she tackled every obstacle and became a strong woman.
If you enjoy paranormal romance with some hot sex scenes and you love mermaids, then this book is for you.

Yet again another fantastic book by Katee Robert!! This book was amazing! I love the chemistry between Bri and Ryan. Not only did this book have me laughing for a good portion of it, it had me swooning!! Bri has grown up in foster care after loosing her parents at a young age, but she pulled through. Now she's living on her own enjoying her new town (can't remember the name) with her friends Avery and Drew. They beg her to take Drew's younger, sexy. Air Force solider, brother out on a blind date. After some intense conversations and arguing things get spicy!! Ryan hates this town and that's the reason he left in the first place. But now he seems like he's finding a reason to stay. If you enjoy hot sex and a great storyline this is the book for you!! Such a great read.
All He Needs by C.C. Gibbs

5 stars!!!!!! This was an amazing read!! I loved this book. Kate took no crap from Dominic and I was glad she pushed him and he pushed her throughout the book. I enjoyed watching them grow as a couple and Dominic finally let down some walls. The ending was good, but Uhm i was disappointed in the fact I knew that was going to happen towards the end.. Like in every other dominating romance book. Example: fifty shades freed, the billionaire banker #2, marriage bargain, ect (which were all great reads except fifty shades freed it sucked!) my point is I wish it had gone a little different! But I still think the author did a good job writing the end and gave us a great cliffhanger. I am more than ready to read the next!!
