Accidentally Ours by Erin Hawkins
well, I have a lot to say about this book, but in general terms, I liked it.
both sophie and hunter were good characters. I could feel their own passion for their goals, and specially sophie–she felt incredible real. she was funny and goal oriented, and never let herself be intimidated. she knew what she wanted and even tho hunter never pressured ger into nothing she also knew how to stand her grown and take the wheel when she needed. honestly she was such a girl boss.
hunter was.. different from what I expected. I totally thought he was going to be a jerk and immature BUT he was the opposite. he knew what he wanted and was glad Sophie was on the same page as his, but also always respected her limits and her career he even admired her because she worked really hard for everything she ever got.
I liked their dynamic. they complemented each other very well, they were for sure a power couple.
now.. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed but more like surprised. and I'm gonna need to talk about the plot that's advertised(?).
this book is being sold as a pregnancy troupe. but you would never guess there's not one mention not suspect of pregnancy until 75% of the book. so if you're not into that troupe I can't guarantee you can read it and for the most part forget that's something that's supposed to happen.
I'm very neutral when it comes to this troupe, I haven't read much books with it but I've enjoyed those few, and the thing is I hoped the book would've taken more space about sophie being pregnant. yes, the book takes its time to develop a proper connection and relationship between them but still.. the pregnancy plot it's featured very quickly with nothing of it's usual conflicts and themes. idk I felt a little bit scammed ?? maybe I would've rated this higher lol
anyway, it's still a good book, and overall, surprisingly, both hunter and sophie have very good communication, they're always talking things out and listening to each other, it was nice to see a plot were miscommunication never takes part.

Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
this was such an incredible journey, I enjoyed every page of it and even tho I may have saw coming some twists–they still somehow got me shocked. this whole book is like an invisible string being connected by an octopus–and let me tell you I've never thought I would've been so emotionally connected with him I LOVE YOU MARCELLUS.
every character stays with you even after you finish the book, all of them feel so real and genuine, like I know they cute somewhere!
it was a bittersweet ending, I'm so glad I picked this book.

Humans. For the most part, you are dull and blundering. But occasionally, you can be remarkably bright creatures.

Unexpectedly Mine by Erin Hawkins
it was so cute! griffin was just *chieff kiss* he was so nice and understanding, a man who knew how to supper his dear wife, the bar is that low. and emma? such a queen. she was adorable and ambitious, kind of reminded me of charlotte from satc lol.
overall it was a nice story, I felt it a little bit rushed, like an instalove but still it was a nice reading.

El tapiz amarillo by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

Violeta by Isabel Allende

Seasons of the Storm by Elle Cosimano
WOW. I've read elle cosimano before (I love the finlay series) but I never expected to love her way of writing a fantasy.
the world building? immaculate. I was so absorbed by it, and the characters? unforgettable, I was able to remember each one of them by name so easily and that's something that I usually struggle with when there's such a huge cast.
this romeo and juliet dynamic always gets me, and to read about them fighting to be together in all the ways!! it's like star crossed lovers, it's giving "MAYBE IN ANOTHER UNIVERSE/WHY NOT IN THIS ONE" AAAAAAAAAAAAA
also, elle wrote banger after banger. I mean how could you open a chapter like this and expect me to not having to take a break and scream even louder???
I loved all the parallels between the characters, so many interesting dynamics and so well developed. I could feel their love since the first page, consider my mind blown.
ALSO CAN I ADD
WHAT YHE FUCKKKKKKKK AAAAAAAAAAAAA
I'm scared to read the next one because if you ask me this was a perfect standalone, so idk I may wait a little time for me to cool down and then I'll read it.

<i>"At some point, every Season knows it's time to fade. This is why the snow melts and the seas grow cold. It's why the leaves turn and the blooms wither. Because after a while, we're not strong enough to hold on anymore.
Eventually, we all let go. But that doesn't mean we go quietly."</i>

Sin and Redemption by Cora Reilly
yeah it's not cora's best work (no one loves twisted pride like I do) but it's not the worst either.
honestly, it's difficult to pinpoint what I think she did wrong.
first of all, it's a book that features sensitive topics. as someone who hasn't experience them, I don't feel qualified to judge sara's actions and train of thoughts, I think one does what one can at moments like that, there's not really an easy path and it's always easier to judge even in fiction. people are complex and I think it's not right to be harsh to someone trying to work around their own trauma. (even if one think it's not the best way around)
still, I'm a little bugged because maybe I'm reading a lot into it but it felt very.. anti-choice? idk how to say it. yes, sara has the option to get an abortion but in the end she choose to have it. yes, I know that if she choose the other option there's not book but.. like she's not the first character in this position, gianna was also there but both of them still choose to have the child. idk it's like the illusion of your choice when in the end it always leads to having it you know?
the book felt too short and quick paced. there was a lot of issues to be address and I think cora had the chance to really write a book with good development but I guess she just doesn't have the capacity to do so.
what she does is a writing style that gets me hooked since the beginning, I can't deny that, I read this book in like a day.
I loved the trevisan family, both cara and ryan were excellent parents and being someone who loved her book too, maximus was bound to be one of my favorites characters. he didn't disappoint at all! he was so kind and communicative to sara, he was always there for her, honestly he was such a green flag. I would've liked to read more about his trauma and how he coped with it. even tho it was a nice surprise that other characters acknowledge he also was a victim and no one blamed him or saw him as weak, the issue just got kind of resolved? off page. he never truly talks about it, we only get to see him being angry etc and coping in a very unhealthy way.
sara too, she was adorable, and not boring but more of an introvert? she wanted a quiet life, and worked towards her happiness. and she even learned to communicate more, I love how their relationship was builded.
anyway, I'm glad it wasn't a huge disappointment. maximus trevisan my fav boy!

"I love you." I blew out a breath, feeling out of my element.
Sara gave me an understanding smile, her eyes watery. "You don't have to say more. Some things don't require an explanation."

Reluctantly Yours by Erin Hawkins
this could easily be adapted into a romcon, it was easy to read, a basic premise, a lot cliches but still it was enjoyable. nothing out of the ordinary or groundbreaking but I still liked it.
both character had their own resolutions and goals, but I didn't like how we got to see more of barret's than chloe's. somehow, even tho they both at something at stake, we only get to continuously read about his plans and goals–the deal with fred, but with chloe, it's like there's nothing else but having to be his girlfriend. we don't get to see her doing much about this event that's helpful for her career, it's like if you do a close up she's just there for the romantic part of the story and nothing more.
I mean I still liked the romance part, I liked how she wasn't an inexperienced virgin innocent girl, she had had boyfriends and still got to be very vocal about what she wanted etc
I did felt barret very immature, I mean both of them felt immature at times for some of their age. at first I thought it's okay it's not like they're that old anyway but sometimes they had issues that were very teenager-like.
anyway, I'm up to read the next books, because I don't except much either, just for entertainment and to believe in love this will do just fine.

La muerta enamorada by Théophile Gautier

unfortunately, I lost the quote I was going to use here lol so until I try to have it again, I'm just gonna post my review.
it wasn't bad, but it wasn't for me.
I think the main reason why I had trouble following the story is simple because of cultural and social differences. I felt I was not getting on track with social cues about the country of origin of the writer, my lack of education on them created a barrier that I was unable to cross and therefore, unable to properly experiment the story.
leaving that aside, the book felt at times very tedious. around 40% it's when we get to read what I would call the main story, and even tho it's not a long book it still wasn't easy for me to keep reading.
even when I resonated with both characters, and when I liked the story's approach to loneliness and craving connection and to be seen, I still didn't truly understand them deeply.
i will recognize the melancholy and yearning was unmatched and i really felt it in my bones, but that's it.
