Backyard Fairies by Phoebe Wahl

An excellent little story to inspire much curiosity and wonder. I like how the main character gets frustrated, but we, the readers, know the fairies exist just out of sight!
The Blue House by Phoebe Wahl

A long haired little boy and his father grieve their old house in their own special ways. I imagine it would be impactful for any child needing to move houses and missing their old one.

A fun fairy tale of riddles and absolutely beautiful portraiture. Nice and short but huge renaissance level paintings each page. You can tell the artists used actual people as models.

I liked the tone of this book, although a few things were slightly untrue. I didn't really like the illustrations. This would be a great book for gross little kids!

Fun and familiar as someone who grew up in Wisconsin amongst people with Danish, Swiss, Swrdish, and German ancestry. Encouraged me to try out some pickled fishes and darker breads.
The Vegan Chinese Kitchen: Recipes and Modern Stories from a Thousand-Year-Old Tradition: A Cookbook by Hannah Che

A rich and savory book with many dishes soaked in tradition and history. The photography is beautiful, and I appreciate when Che went to different master artisans in order to learn more about everyday ingredients. I learned a lot, and none of the recipes felt especially intimidating.

I wish I could hand this book to every vegan on earth. It has the perfect mix of simple, throw them together recipes and complex, nuanced recipes. Everything is deeply authentic, often sourced from the author's childhood. I also appreciated the history at the beginning that talks about how vegan food has existed in China for centuries. It's a beautiful and inspiring cookbook. I'm not vegan, but I might add this to my shelf.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 3%.
In reading the introduction, I learned that this is an advanced text and I should probably read a couple other books first that the author recommends.

Coffee Sensory and Cupping Handbook by Mario Roberto Fernández-Alduenda and Peter Giuliano
World Coffee Research Sensory Lexicon
Coffee Taster's Flavor Wheel
Craft Coffee: A Manual by Jessica Easto
