Still really engaging and I love just how much magic and mythology there is in here, having so much fun w the paranormal, but imo there’s so many plot inconsistencies that make it kinda frustrating. Characters being deliberately obtuse is not my fav and it happened a lot more in this book. For a group of supposedly the best agents in the world and the best thief, they’re so bad at thinking things through.
Anyways this book was emotionally charged and I’m very curious to see how it wraps up but yeah, as I read more I get more frustrated at the construction.

Cute but way too short and missing lots of plot or characterisation detail that would’ve improved upon an otherwise promising premise. Still cute and had fun but yeah definitely missing lots.

Plot is plotting!!! Still kinda predictable and weird pacing but I’m having a great time reading them so that’s a win.

Having fun reading these and the over arching plot is getting good but I feel like it’s being very repetitive with plot devices and I wish things were less predictable. Still enjoying the series though.

Still very engaging and can’t put down James’ writing (started and finished both books so far in one night each) but can definitely tell it’s an earlier work. The plot is interesting but I fear the hints are too obvious and thus it is (so far) quite predictable. Will see if I’m right, but for now I’m having fun.

Good start, keen to see where it goes as the story is promising. Definitely issues w pacing though, and the writing isn’t as strong as other works by James. Will hold off on judgement until a few more books in.

Cute but a little simple for me, and too short.

I rlly just had an unabashedly good time reading this lol. There were issues w the writing sure, and it was hella cliche but sue me; I loved the werewolf fics on wattpad/ao3 and I clearly love them here too. Just a great time.

Physically cannot bring myself to rate this higher bc so much of the book made me curl into myself cringing. The narrator/character interactions were so whack, as was the candy cane scene?!?!?! Also just so many stupid decisions that felt so unrealistic.
But at the end of the day I did finish it and was at least entertained by my distaste lmao. There were some sweet moments sprinkled in there but yeah honestly just not for me.
