Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison

I take everything I said back. I actually will be handing out my first 5 stars of the year this early on. I genuinely wish I would have waited to read this during the holiday season, but I also am just so relieved to know I can still fall in love with books and devour them like they’re a perfectly warm and iced gingerbread cookie on a beautiful winter night. I can’t wait to re-read this when the time comes, but until then I’ll just be grateful that it exists and wait with bated breath for the series to continue. This book was perfect for me. Friends to lovers, no love triangle, great characters, a fucking Christmas tree farm! The way this was written had me yearning to be exactly where they were with my very own Luka. I would love for small towns to give up their intense love of the police, but what do you do? Anyway, I’m crying and off to make a playlist that is perfect to listen to while reading this book, bye!

BRB crying over the fact that I’m not dating Brendan Taggart
Hi, I’m in love with Brendan? And that’s all I can say right now. Read it, it’s so cute, and steamy, and adorable, what the hell

Hello? I don’t think I’ve been the same since I read this? And I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. Read this if you want to just be absolutely wrecked inside for a while.

Um I’m delirious from lack of sleep right now, so there’s nothing coherent I can say to express how I flew through this book. Gonna go sleep now. Stay tuned.

I love the idea of a very protective love interest, but the age gap was……kinda weird. Plus Tony was super aggressive and pushy at times and I’m surprised for a girl who is being stalked she didn’t tell him to chill out because he was freaking her out just as much as her stalker. Like, dude, just because you ✨LoVe✨her doesn’t mean you can do literally the same things her stalker is doing? Luna just had many men worrying about her all the time and it was a lot.

Naah
Listen, if I have to read the word naah one more time…..cute storyline and easy read. Didn’t particularly like the representation of POC being background characters and Garrett describing Hannah as “almost exotic”. Definitely weird vibes at some point, but enemies to lovers is a time old formula that certainly works. It’s nothing revolutionary, though

Okay, I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s written so well, and I did like it, and I finished it in a day, but fucking hell it’s 11pm on a Sunday night already fully basking in the Sunday night blues and I’m crying because this book broke my heart. Like….read at your own risk, please. It’s wonderful and very cutesy and adorable main characters with incredible chemistry and is all fun and games until it’s not! Ugh, I wish I read this on like Friday or Saturday so I had a day to recover and try to be a little happy again

What am I going to say that anybody else hasn’t? Nothing. Very cute and angsty, a woman president, and relatable sibling dynamic. Heartwarming, and funny, and a simple storyline done to a grand scale. Like The White House and literal Royalty scale. Certainly isn’t how politics is irl, but if we can read stories about entire worlds inside cupboards, and shape shifting vampires, and demons coming to earth to fall in love with humans who are actually angels, I think we can extend our minds a bit to understand it was an idealized version of power. It’s fiction. I can understand the criticism. I see it, I hear it, I understand it, but it didn’t absolutely ruin for the book for me. Maybe that’s coming from a privileged point of view, but it wasn’t meant to be historical non-fiction. You can be critical of real life situations and be aware of the dangers of making politicians your idols without it ruining your fiction reading. Or maybe you can’t, but that’s up to you! I feel like the same arguments were made for Hamilton. You can enjoy the piece of art for what it is but still be aware that it’s an extremely rose-colored glasses view of something serious. I don’t think RW&RB can be accused of anything other than trying to paint a political party in a better light than the other, which happens in real life every day. If you don’t like the storyline, or the romance, or the characters, fine. But I don’t think the inaccurate depiction of politics should be its downfall. Isn’t that the point of entertainment? For it to be something different and more enjoyable than the reality?
