 I do wish I could have experienced this over the year length it's written to, but unfortunately library loans only extend to a certain point.

This is cute! I love the multimedia experience this book provides. Two tiny quibbles though:
1) I did have a little trouble scanning the QR codes occasionally because they're on the inner side of the margin and I read this in my tiny car before work. I really would have rathered they be on the right side
2) They only tell you about the sound index on one of the last pages so my stupid ass was fumbling through Scanning Every QR Code. If you're going to power through like me, go to www.batsfordbooks.com/a-year-of-songb... for a convenient sound index 

But otherwise this was altogether entirely pleasant!  🐦 

the way this is written drives me up the goddamn wall.  it's so twee and cutesy. she's used the word "epic" at least three times. i know i am putting on the size 13 clown shoes as someone who used to own (and wear. in public.) a shirt that said EPIC FAIL with a big arrow pointing to one side but in my defense i was a teenager in 2009. this book was published in fucking 2021
