THIS IS SOOOOO GOOOODDDDðŸ˜
Middle grade hisfic about a girl named Jude, who lived in Syria and had to move to America bcs of the war.
The story revolved around her overcoming her worry about her activist brother, her best friend, and her father. Her adaptation in America. The cultures, the language, and ofc, the prejudice.
It talked about fitting in and be yourself, be bold on your dreams, and being seen and recognized.
Im so lucky finding this book. I read without seeing the blurb, AND I LIKE THE POEM-LIKE STYLE OF WRITING.
SHORT CHAPTER.
HEARTWARMING.
INSPIRING.

An assassin, a spy, a fake marriage, and a dysfunctional family.
Action packed heavy with political disturbances, killings and laced with slow burn romance.
Lots of aliases and code names. Betrayal, twist, and mystery. Super page turning.
IT WAS SOOOO GOOOODðŸ˜ðŸ‘Œ It gets better as you near the end where the knot started to unravel.
THE CHARACTERS' DYNAMIC IS TO DIE FOR. Siblings trope is strong.
THE ROMANCE got me screaming.
For me personally, the political stance waa easier to follow. No gore during the action, much investigation and disguise.
SURPRISING TILL THE END.
One more, the Hong family members need therapy.
Thank you Hodder Books and Hodder Publicity for the Arc through netgalley!!!💕
-----------
I highly highly recommend you to read THESE VIOLENT DELIGHTS and OUR VIOLENT END before reading this.
Foul Lady Fortune is its own series, but the event started just several years after OVE.
TVD duology expalined their background well and help u understand their current train of thought, or conflicted feelings. As well as their relationship to each other. Rosalind, Celia, and Alisa.

I love this. The story was surprisingly heartwarming with both of the clans appeared.
The plot delivered was also clever, to tell the story of a jade setter, the one thing that both No Peak and Mountain clans are respect equally.
Peeking the inside of smaller clan, revealing the abuse happened to Abukei women, and deflecting people of power with single clever strike.
I enjoy this so much, and I miss Lan:" I miss them allðŸ˜

The first 50% was soooo goood. The plot was more solid than the prev book. Action packed and straight forward. In prefect composition.
The characters' dynamic is, like usual, top notch. I treasured Seryu and Shiori banters so much. AND KIKI.
Would like to give Mrs. Elizabeth Lim applause for the world building. The range of Shiori's journey in this book was even bigger. The places were all very atmospheric. Rich details, ornaments, colours, and vibes. (My fav was Ai'long, Seryu's homeland)
Bushi'an Takkan is a walking green flag. I love how he got to get closer to all of Shiori's brothers. THE SIBLINGS DYNAMIC ARE EVEN BETTER. The characters were all precious.
Unfortunately, the actions or storyline for the other end was a bit too tight. We werent give any chance to take a breath. And considering the struggle and fights, Shiori was senselessly strong(?) They weren't given some spaces to tend themselves. From one adventure to another directly. The problems are too many to solve at a short time. The composition's a bit off.
And the problem solving in the end was bittersweet.
However, I still enjoy it👌 Will read Spin of the Dawn and Unravel the Dusk after this💃

My friends are so loud about this book and im not dissapointed on how it turned out!!!
What I love:
What I love:
- WRITING STYLE. The description of feeling, places, and melancholic touch. Totally my taste.
- SIBLING TROPE. IM WEAK.
- DRAGON, WITCHCRAFT, CURSES, DEMONS, ILLUSION!!!
- Funny MC with great character dev. No jumpy to be a powerful being at once. Clever, and brave. Not the one easily sway in love.
- Loveable characters.
- Kiki the magic paper crane
What I dont particulary like:
- EVERYONE TALKS SO MUCH ABT SERYU AND YES I LIKE HIM, BUT WHY DID HIS APPEARANCE WAS VERY LITTLE? LOL
Cant wait for the next book!!!!

This is a great story. We will be taken back to Korea's Jeseon dynasty through the eyes of a damo (servant, women police officers) named Seol.
The story revolved around Seol's curiousity solving the murders of a noble woman, whom associated with Chatholic. Back then in Joseon Dynasty, Chatholic was not largely accepted.
NO QUESTIONS NEEDED FOR THE SETTING DESCRIBED; THE ATMOSPHERE, THE CHARACTER'S DYNAMIC AND THEIR TRAIN OF THOUGHT, THE MOTIVES, ARE ALL PERFECT.
It is action packed in term of we follow each steps of investigation. Hvw, sometimes, the investigations were too roundy. Circling back and forth with no enlightement. It served satisfactory resolution at the end, tho.
I love Seol's character development. The curiousity sparks her fath to become a braver police officer who mattered among the men. The downside, is, for me, her inconsistence at time was a bit frustrating. To reveal or conceal... however, growing up a servant, it was understandable. This book served it well.
A bit slow paced but still enjoyable. Page turning. Siblings trope. Lots of betrayals and blood!!!
I have a good time reading this, but
NO ONE TOLD ME IT COULD WRECK YOUR HEART.
