Beau, ever the big brother, puts everyone's needs above his own, but who looks out for Beau and puts him first? Honestly, poor Beau about broke my heart. Then he meets Trevor, the overly cautious sex worker who he hires as his date for his sister's wedding, and they fall so hard and fast for each other. They were honestly so perfect, and their story was so sweet and steamy, but god did it make my heart ache. 

Seriously, there's just something about the way Maya writes that sucks you in and kicks your ass emotionally.

Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect going into Won't Back Down, as this is my first book by Harper Jackson and I'm not too big on romantic suspense novels, but this was fantastic. Willa and Sawyer's story was super sweet, and the mystery of what happened to Willa and why kept me hooked. Plus the ending (and bad guy) was who I least expected!

Can't wait for more of this series!

Honestly, I haven't been this in love with a fantasy book this much since ACOTAR/TOG, which I know isn't saying much for some of yall, but this was absolutely fantastic.

I mean, who doesn't love a snarky female assassin hellbent on revenge, who gets into a whole heap of shit along the way, all while fighting an intense attraction to a powerful and sinfully hot Fae male, who uncovers a truth and a past that she isn't entirely ready to embrace without breaking apart?!

To me it was perfection, and I will not be taking any criticism.

In need of a fresh start after being ditched by his cheating ex, Skylar heads to Dragonback Mountains and drowns his sorrows at Church, the local bar. Short on cash, Skylar plans on doing a little pickpocketing to help him get by while having his fun, but gets caught by bar's gorgeous owner, Hiero. 

The pair have great chemistry that turns into a hot night together, but with Skylar getting out of a bad relationship and Hiero looking to settle down, the pair decide to stick it out as friends. Only being friends is nearly impossible with the tension between them, and Skylar and Hiero strike up a no strings Daddy/boy relationship for as long as Skylar decides to stick around.

I felt so bad for both Skylar and Hiero, both of them just needed someone who wanted to stick around for the long haul, but were both too used to being cast aside for one reason or another. Their friendship and relationship was so sweet, and I adored how loving and patient Hiero was with Skylar as he grew into his own. 

My Minotaur Daddy was seriously so adorable, with fantastic spice, and was yet another wonderful addition to the Tales from the Tarot series!

Marshall, disliker of people and occasional serial killer, believes he is the scariest man on the block, not realizing that his adorable twink of a neighbor is an even bigger predator than he is. 

For a story revolving around some murderers, accidental and otherwise, this was pretty cute but a bit overly long. I would have liked more of the magic shop and tarot to have been involved, but it was great seeing a tiny glimpse of Elmwood!

𝐈𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧?

𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬. 

Back in his hometown to oversee renovations on his family home, Jude comes face to face with the only man he’s ever loved and hated—Romeo, his former best friend, lover, and his whole entire world. 

As if seeing Romeo after how things ended between them five years ago wasn’t devastating enough, he’s with his beautiful wife who has no idea about their past and their falling out. 

Despite all the hurt and anger, he and Romeo are like magnets and incapable of being apart no matter the heartache it’s bound to cause. 

Lord have mercy, Jude and Romeo’s story put me through the wringer!!! I don’t think I would have survived if this was dual POV, cause lord knows I barely made it out with just Jude’s. 

He is the King of unrequited love, and seeing him paint a picture of how things fell apart between him and Romeo using glimpses of their past damn near killed me, especially a certain chapter around the 70% mark. 

I cried, a lot, but it was so worth it.

“You're one scary man, Duncan.”
“Then you should run, pet.”
“But it's so much more fun to be caught.”
