I can’t believe I did not leave a review when I read this book. 🤦‍♀️
I can’t give a detailed review now but what I can say is that I had a great time reading. It was light, endearing and lovely read. These two were so fun to read about and at the same time touching in the way they fell in love with one another. Absolutely loved them and although I can’t remember a lot, I can still remember what I felt like when I read it. It was a happy read.

I ate this up like candy and all of it in one sitting!

First of all I liked how it started. It gave an inside right away on who/why Saros and Em were the way they were.
Saros is the powerful, scary mob boss but to those he holds dear, as well as his employees, he is kind and cherishes them which I loved to see.
This contrast is honestly what Davidson King does best and what you can always expect from her stories. She writes scary but lovely men with a morally grey compass but kind hearted.

Em had it rough his entire life but the day he decides to help a man from getting 🔫 is the day his life changed for the better.
I love that despite the treatment he went through, he still had hope that his prince would come and take him away from it all.

Saros took great care in showing Em he was no threat to him but also that he wanted to give him a better life.
Their romance was lovely, they were amazing and after I finished it, i had all the warm feelings.
I loved it but that’s no surprise at all since it’s a Davidson story. I always have a soft spot for them. 🫶

What a romance this was! It’s my favorite so far. I can always trust Jenn with her taste of men 😉.

Ian Mackenzie was wonderful. A breath of fresh air if you will.
His „madness“ is first of all an advantage but can also be a hindrance sometimes however it makes him unique and only people who see his true self, knows that he is far from madness. People just like to dismiss someone they can’t figure out.
I loved everything about this. The brother, Isabella and of course Beth.
Ian just knew Beth was the one from the moment he spoke to her hence the marriage proposal. I’m so glad Ian lives up to his family name because a Mackenzie never gives up from what I’ve read so far.
Beth was also drawn to him like a moth to the flame and she ain’t a withering flower so she went for what she wanted.
I loved that she didn’t let Fellows change her opinion of Ian or the Mackenzie because that man was worse that a dog with a bone. I was side eyeing him the entirety of this book.
I loved their relationship and how deep it went as I kept reading.
I loved everything about Ian and Beth.

Hart is the difficult brother to love in this book. He is cold but warm when it comes to his brothers but it took awhile to see his softer side.
I loved that conversion at the end between him and Ian, it was well overdue. I loved that Hart didn’t shy away in saying what needed to be said.
I just love the Mackenzie’s! I can’t wait to read book 3 next.

So I have so mixed feelings about this one. I like how competent, independent, violent, bad🍑Valkyries are and Kaderin was no exception in that regard however when it came to Sebastian I felt like she was too stubborn for no reason after a certain point.

Like I understood why she didn’t trust him and whatnot but after 55%/60% of the story we have to get along and start trusting and loving.
She came across as too uncaring of his actions and feelings and I didn’t like that. It felt like Sebastian did everything to gain her love and in return he got cruel words or negative predictions for the future.
Also the fact that she could never be with him because the sisters would kill him? Like hello? Have we not established that Valkyries mourn their sisters on a different level? So that fact leads me to believe they would be ok with your man being a vampire since he makes you happy. Oh and also you ain’t the first and won’t be the last to have a vampire man in the coven.

I liked that she has her sisters back and that the Goddess basically offer Sebastian the chance to get his back.

Is it a surprise that I read this in one sitting? No to me anymore. I'm listening to the audiobooks while reading along with my paperback and it has been great. The narration is so damn good.

Kaderin is such a fierce and bold character. I loved her. She had a mission and not even Sebastian would deter her for completing it.
Sebastian has been lost since Nikolai turned him but once he encounters Kaderin he finally finds his reason to continue on living.
I liked their relationship a lot but the fact that Kaderin was always rejecting him took a toll on me. I'm glad Sebastian was not deterred by her rejection one bit. He was determined to have his bride.

The valkyries are a unique bunch and I can't to learn more about them. I'm also very interested in knowing what's going on with Bowen. He is in constant pain and he needs his hea. Can't wait to read it.

I’m surprised I liked this one so much. It’s a great start to the series. I read the revised version so I wonder how different it is from the other version and the same goes for the next books in the series. I have the paperbacks but I think I’m gonna read them in ebook because I feel like I will enjoy them a lot more that way.
I loved Myst. She war fearless as a Valkyrie should but she wasn’t ruthless. She is very protective of her sisters and in the end I liked how she handled Wroth.
I loved Wroth though and although he messed up big time, he didn’t know better and in the end he just wanted his bride by his side.
Excited to continue the series.
