This is my first book from this author, and every nice thing I heard about their writing was well deserved. This was a memorable read.

It was easy to get lost in the story, and that's a huge achievement because I've been finding it difficult to read lately. The story is angsty in the perfect way. I just don't agree with a plot decision made by the author, where a big event happens at 70% of the book (outside of the romance) in a point of the story where I needed to see more of the two MCs together, instead of having weird time jumps.

I enjoyed the sexual tension of this rivals-to-lovers. The last third was a bit OTT for me. Also, I would have appreciated if at some point the kink stopped being so undernegotiated.

I found the BDSM interesting and well written, and I appreciated the faux-pas of the MC who didn't know a lot about BDSM. What I didn't like was that all interactions between the MC and the LI were based on their play scenes and little more. We see them getting together, and we don't know anything about the LI.

I generally don't have a problem seeing the MCs going on dates with other people at the beginning of the story. But I don't understand why at 60% in, the MCs are still seeing other people. It feels like we're not seeing enough of the MCs together, and instead, we see them still playing the field.

The MCs have zero chemistry, and the set up for them getting together is beyond awkward and unbelievable

The book focused more on the plot than the romance, but it was a really enjoyable read nonetheless

The spice was good, but the MCs seemed to be acquaintances at best, not friends... so that destroyed the story a bit for me

I looove codependent best-friends-to-lovers, but oftentimes authors don't know how to handle the fact that the two MCs love each other but are not together without over-the-top misunderstandings and not talking to each other. I couldn't stand the MCs any longer.
