This series is one I get sucked into no matter how many times I’ve experienced it! I watched the anime first (and I technically still have to finish it), but I’m surprised how easily I’m drawn to the fast-paced matches. Sometimes when reading manga I struggle to keep the continuity in my head from panel to panel. Haikyu!! is one of the few manga I can read almost seamlessly.
Suga really shone in this volume and I’m so happy! He’s adorable and underrated and a genuine great guy! And Karasuno facing off against Aoba Johsai is TENSE!! Plus, every Kageyama-Hinata attack is just epic!
I’m not sure if it’s a storytelling choice for the time or if I’m jumping into a series that follows another. It just felt a little choppy from a story prespective. Like the use of colors (because I apparently always talk sbout that lol) and the costume is cool! The dialogue is cheesy, which is exactly what I expected and wanted from this issue.
It’s both cool and strange knowing this came out a year before I was born🫣
The introduction of two of my favorite Fire Force characters? Yes please!
Without spoiling anything, the climactic fight of the volume is really cool and showcases how useful Shinra’s pyrokinesis is. I also still think it’s cool that the creator of Soul Eater made this series too!
My favorite character in Company 1 is Karim. The man’s a badass, his abilities are cool, and the way he speaks is…entertaining lol.
[But I REALLY can’t wait until Company 8 meets Company 7!!!]
The color schemes and art style are my favorites! I also live the design of Batman/Bruce and Robin/Damian! Rugged but clean. White Rabbit’s kinda sexy too!
And to the creator/illustrator, I noticed that Naruto manga in Damian’s room! (Man, I’m such a geek lol)
The tagline on the variant cover, “The man who killed the Avengers!”, had me intrigued. Paul Pastor is an interesting character and I’m curious whst kind of person he’d be beyond this issue. (Keeping this spoiler-free but let’s just say I don’t believe the ending.)
Love love love the colors and character designs! Arcade reminds me of Joker but maybe less on the psycho side and more on the childish side. This is the first issue and I have a lot of questions…which means I’ll be adding the series to my list of ones to continue!
What If It’s Us is hands down a 5 star read! I’d give it more if I could!
Normally, I’d leave a really long review about all the things I loved or didn’t like about it. (Spoiler alert: I didn’t dislike anything!) HOWEVER, I feel like I have too much to say about this book that it would make this review ridiculously long and/or I wouldn’t be able to do my thoughts/feelings on it justice.
Instead, I’ll say this: I can’t believe it took needing to read a book for class and What If It’s Us being on a recommendation list for me to get to it!
[Also, the extra stuff in the back with Adam, Becky, and David Arnold was so wholesome and just geniunely cool to read about!]
There’s something different about this volume that has my heart racing! I’ve watched the entire series (so far) and Zeroin had me curious, but I didn’t know the “death” thing would be in this volume! Man, it makes me feel things toward Sanzo and I’m not sure what I think about that.
Ugh, I have to get the next volume already! But it’s so hard to find! I will succeed in this endeavor - I must!
