The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White

This book took me on a journey and I’m not just talking about the story. When I first started it, I was engaged and intrigued by the direction the author took in this Arthurian retelling. However that quickly turned into annoyance. There is a good chunk of this book early on is the author repeatedly explaining knot magic. I mean come on it’s not that complicated, we don’t need a description and explanation EVERY time! Then we had to describe and go through her fear of water every single time... we get it she fears water and it’s important to the plot of the trilogy!! I kept reading though because they were just minor annoyances in a rather unique story line. Also FYI the over description stop at some point and the book really starts to flow!! By the end I am cursing then universe that the next book isn’t out yet!! I can’t wait to see what happens... I have theories that need to be worked on, and I’m really glad the confusing romance part of the story didn’t get to trite. Yes I’m being vague because NO SPOILERS. So all in all 4 stars from me!!

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! And yes I must yell that to everyone!! As a long time avid Anne of Green Gables fan I can’t believe I haven’t read this book until now. Valancy, the heroine, is probably one of my favorite literary characters. She is just so relevant in today’s age, no matter the book was published in 1926. This makes sense though because the ‘20s were a time of progress for women. It’s unfortunate how that continues to ebb and flow, but for now this story resonated with me and all the wonderful women in my books club. Valancy is relatable, powerful, thought provoking, and just downright likeable. I highly recommend the story to EVERYONE!

So this memoir wasn’t exactly what I was expecting if I’m honest. I can’t exactly describe what I was expecting but It wasn’t this. I actually really loved it... I can see why some people might find it a little boring or not like it. However she is just middle class AF, it shows, and I’m so hear for it! I found myself listening to this all day at work and finishing it in one day. I laughed out loud, I related so hard with her on so many things, and I even cried a little in some parts. Again I related to her life on a certain human level. She’s open, honest, and cuts through the BS to tell you the real stuff. And hey even if you are nominated for an Oscar it totally doesn’t mean you’re already a rich, I’ve made it kind of Star... who knew??!
Also another reviewer said it was more for teenagers and nooooo!!! Just saying...

I am soooo late to this party, but you know what they say... better late than never!!
I’m enjoying this series a lot. That said I wasn’t so obsessed I had to binge read it. I think that has a lot to do with the characters, as I don’t find myself clicking with them wholeheartedly yet. Lila is for sure my favorite at the moment closely followed by Rhys. I think Kell is interesting but he seems really REALLY young mentally. I hope the next book delves into his background!! I’m interested in hearing about that. Also Lila is a badass, what more can you say.
The world building is a neat concept from a surface level view, but seems a bit confusing when you really delve into it. It’s definitely unique and I can’t wait to see what happens.
All in all I’d give it 3.5 stars, but I’ve rounded up for Goodreads purposes.

I couldn’t put it down!!
I’ll be honest, I bought this book because Ruth is a bookstagram friend and I wanted to support her. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this book was really really good. REALLY good! I enjoyed it so much and at one point I may have messaged her that I didn’t like her very much at that moment as the story took a turn. I became so heavily invested in these characters it was like watching a movie. This is a fast paced, suspenseful, Dystopian story that asks big questions and makes you really think about things. Also no YA Dystopian novel would be complete without a little love story in it... even a love triangle which is a trope I don’t like normally. I feel like it was good in this book though due to the context etc. (keeping it spoiler free lol). I highly suggest giving this a go if like me you really enjoy a good dystopian read!! I can’t wait to read the next book

I won’t lie some of this book was downright gross!!! It kept me on my toes though and what kept me reading and wanting more is the relationship between Wadsworth and Cresswell. It’s the most adorable and fun relationship that I’ve read in awhile!

I really enjoyed reading about the bright women who have written some of my childhood favorites!! If you grew up reading Nancy Drew I highly recommend picking this up.
