Omens by Suzanne Wright

OMG, this book! I have been looking forward to this book for a very long time. Like, circa Ashes. Which, honestly, just made me nervous the longer I had to wait. You know how you look forward to a character's book so hard, and then you read it and you're just like ....
That didn't happen with this book! So if you've been waiting for this book for forever - IT IS SO EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!
Khloe is SO crazy! She is literally on the crazy-train, heading to crazy-ville and her goal is to drag everyone with her. In fact, she literally - on PURPOSE - tries to drive Keenan to drink! She's only just perfect.
If you're looking for something funny, this is definitely the book for you. I'm not kidding - I seriously highlighted over 60 scenes that made me laugh, chuckle, or grin!
I have so much I could say about this book and why I like it and what I'm looking forward to reading in the next few books, but I don't want to spoil it. So just go read it. You will not regret it!

Fallen by Suzanne Wright

Once again, Suzanne Wright has blown me away. This book was everything I had hoped for for Raini and Maddox. Raini was delightful, sneaky, and had more secrets than what I thought. Maddox was deliciously sinful, hot, and so, so powerful.
The great thing about Suzanne's books is how completely novel the creature-building is - this book just adds to that. I'm hoping the introduction to all of these creatures that we've been getting in the last several books will build gateways to spin-off series. For now, I'm super curious about Levi's book ;)

Such an adorable book! One of the best cozy mysteries I’ve read in a while. Definitely a quick read, but so good!
Badger to the Bone by Shelly Laurenston

I have loved every minute and every page of reading the Honey Badger Chronicles series. Both book one and two in the chronicles were 5 stars oh-my-god-I-love-‘em books. This…was not.
Do I want more? Oh yes, of course.
Was the book faithful to Max’s personality? 100% and more.
Humorous? Definitely.
Bat-shit crazy? Well, duh. It’s the badgers. ‘Nuff said.
Then what was wrong? The romance! I know Shelly doesn’t usually focus on the sex in her books. Which is fine – her books work perfectly without tons of book-banging sex! BUT, where it lacks on sex, it makes up for in romance – development of the characters towards each other, a relationship that sneaks up on them. That kind of thing.
Well, that’s not here. I looked down, saw I was at 79% and was literally struck frozen. I thought I had way more to go! There was hardly any romantic development in this book. It was like Max and Zé decided to have sex (they did have some great chemistry) and that was basically that. That’s when the “relationship” began and I don’t really know how to feel.
That being said. There were great relationship moments between the sisters. Zé was hot and funny. Max’s book introduces some intriguing characters that I’m DYING to know more about. And there was a HUGE plot (not exactly twist, but almost) point that will make future books interesting.
Overall, not as a great a read as the first two books, but still pretty good. I would recommend this book for fans of: Shelly, badgers, and humor.

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett

I decided to read this because I love the mini-series so much. And it’s a good thing I watched it first, because this book is a little too smart for me, lol. It’s such a witty, sarcastic, and just overall clever book!
As part of their bid to show how everyone is connected, even if just peripherally to some other peripheral person, there is an inordinate number of characters in this book. Though they all seem to play a vital, even if microscopic role, in the story line, it was taxing to remember who was who and what they did to impact one of the events.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
4.0
This was a fantastic, though somewhat slow read. I was kinda just power-pushing though because it’s Neil Gaiman, but a little after the half-way mark things start to get really interesting. At that point, the story picks up and the main action of the book begins.
Not to say that the first part of the book is bad - it’s just slow and more told than illustrated. The fantastical elements really help and the world-building of the graveyard is novel. Overall, not a bad read.
