Witch Hunter: Into the Outside by J.Z. Foster

This would be a great comic book/graphic novel. There’s horror, comedy, and very vivid imagery of unique creatures and universe - everything that would fit a comic book really well.
The writing was phenomenal! There were times when I felt like something was watching me and I’d get goosebumps and tense. It was a pretty intense book for it to be relatively short.
This is technically more like a 4.5 star read, but I enjoyed it enough to bump it up here. What’s holding it back, imo, is that it’s suffering from first-in-a-fantasy-series syndrome. Aka - there’s so much world building that it suffered a little because things aren’t always clear or the plot gets a little redundant to help get a point across. I’m sure the next books will be better as the lore becomes more established.
P.S. to the author: the Latin could use a little work in some areas.

Lore Olympus: Volume Three by Rachel Smythe

Though I originally read all of these on Webtoons, there’s just something about having a physical copy that I love. As always, this is a heart-warming and heart-pulling story that makes you just want to squish the characters protectively.
My fave trope is grumpy/sunshine and what’s great about this is that both characters have a bit of grumpy and a bit of sunshine in them.
I realize I could read this on Webtoons and get it sooner (but I just hate waiting a whole week to be done in less than a minute), but I can’t want until Hades and Persephone get together! Plus, I really want Eros to find his Psyche and for Hera to hurt Zeus bad.

This was an absorbing, world-heavy, unputdownable fantasy that gives me From Blood and Ash feels. (The story is way different, but plot pieces are kinda similar). The romance is very light, but still makes you feel invested - I hope it’s developed more in the second book!
Though the story starts a little slowly, it’s so that she can pay attention to the world-building and on developing Xingyin. But it works! It’s kinda like a MCU origin story - you have the origin in the beginning and then the action in the second half (don’t worry, though! The action in this book starts sooner than the second half of the book, though more and more is introduced as the story moves on).
I can’t wait to see what the second book is like, especially since the world is already established!

Super cute, light read! There’s not really any angst or drama, just a cute slice of life type of read. Also - I might’ve died a couple of times from laughing so hard!
The Phantom by Gena Showalter

I always devour Gena’s new releases then am greatly disappointed because it means I have to wait at least a few months for the next book :(
This one had quite a few twists, with characters you never know if you can trust. I feel like I kinda figured out one of the plot twists, but it wasn’t disappointing!
For the past few books I couldn’t figure out what I felt for Erebus, but…with what he had planned for his daughter and granddaughter, I think he definitely has to be a truly villainous villain. Someone needs to kill him dead soon!
