Laiken had her life planned out with the boy she had known all her life and wanted to spend the rest of it with. She had her friends, her boyfriend, and his family, who had all but taken her in as their own. But one night, one choice changed everything and left permanent scars—both emotional and physical. Now, a decade later, she uses that pain as inspiration for her art while also trying to make up for all the guilt and regrets she still holds and all the lives it has impacted.
Boden has been in the limelight all his life. But when things in his personal life become public knowledge during an already difficult time, he decides to take a break and go to Wolf Gap to avoid all the paparazzi and chaos, while also doing some research work for his next project.
He comes across an art gallery while wandering around the town, where a certain piece catches his eye with how it captures the raw emotions and pain that seems to resonate with his own pain. This is where he meets Laiken, who seems to understand and relate to the art in the same way as him, which sparks his interest in knowing more about what has that haunted look in her eyes.
But things get dangerous when Laiken's past comes back to hunt her, threatening to finish what had started a decade ago.
------------------------------------------
The prologue had me crying. It was so intense, and even though I knew what was going to happen, I still kept hoping for a different outcome.
Laiken was such a strong, resilient, brave, and committed character. After having gone through so much and having lost so much, Laiken still pushed forward, trying to do her best. She had lasting repercussions from her accident that changed her life permanently, but she doesn't let it define her or lean on it as an excuse. She holds on to a lot of guilt over what went down all those years ago, which permanently impacted her relationship with everyone who was important to her, and she is still trying to make amends.
Boden has scars and regrets from his past and how his choices led to losing someone he loved. His relationship with his brother has reached its saturation point after all these years of trying to mend things with him. After spending all his life in the limelight, he finds the quiet and calmness of Wolf Gap refreshing and addictive, where the people see him for him and not what he can do for them. After his first interaction with Laiken, he feels a pull towards her with how she seems to understand pain and loss and wants to know more about her.
Laiken took her time warming up to Boden because she didn't want to feel something for someone again, only for him to walk away once he was done with the research. But when Boden gives her pieces of himself to make her feel more comfortable, she realizes that they are similar in so many ways and eventually opens up to him.
I truly loved the way Boden took care of her throughout the book because of her struggles. He also always put himself in the path of danger to protect Laiken. I loved how both their dogs were inseparable and super adorable.
However, the romance aspect of this book felt a bit rushed given how Boden and Laiken were strangers. I felt like it progressed too quickly, and I couldn't properly relate to them as a couple. Yes, there seemed to be an initial connection through art and how they could relate to the hardships they'd both been through, but it still felt a bit rushed given how soon they fell for each other.
Also, both their situations seemed a little too similar, with their thoughts about their ex and how both Jase and Boden had a rocky relationship with their brothers. And especially after that prologue, I didn't like how Laiken downplayed her relationship with Jase, stating how maybe they were just better off as friends and maybe the romance wouldn't have worked out if Jase was still alive. I mean, I would've preferred if she had simply moved on rather than saying that.
I enjoyed the mystery in this book the most. The suspense was really intense in this one compared to the rest of the books in this series, and I was guessing till the very end, but I didn't see that coming.
From the glimpses of Ramsey we got in this book, I'm eager for his and Shiloh's book.

After spending all her life being controlled and abused by her family, Addie finally took the step to walk away from them and gain control of her life. And she has been doing just that for the past year, trying to find herself and live her life on her terms.
But she isn't too thrilled when Beckett moves into the place she's staying at temporarily, because he seems to see too much of the pain and scars that she tries too hard to hide from everyone. As they spend time together, she can't help but slowly feel drawn to him and wanting to know more about him and the things that seem to haunt him.
But someone isn't too happy with Addie's new-found freedom and her growing closeness to Beckett and will stop at nothing to make her regret her choices, no matter who gets caught up in the crosshairs.
----------------------------------------------
Addie was an inspiring character who was so kind, understanding, and compassionate because of everything she had to endure all her life. She was also very brave and determined to work on figuring herself out and taking the steps to learn everything that she wasn't allowed to before. There were times when she felt helpless, like a failure, or wanted to give up, but she still pushed through all those insecurities and fears. As the story progresses, we see Addie get more confident and stand up for herself and for the people she cares about.
Beckett has been running from the past for far too long, carrying a lot of guilt and regrets after what happened to Shiloh and how it changed all their lives permanently. But now he's back to make amends for not being there for his family all these years. Traveling to different places working as a doctor, he has seen and done things that have deeply impacted his life, and some of those choices still haunt him. He was such a gentle soul who wanted to help everyone out in whatever way he could, but at the same time he was so fierce and protective when the people he cared about were in any trouble.
Beckett was exactly who Addie needed to come out of her shell. He was wonderful and helped Addie every step of the way to find her independence. He believed in her and kept pushing her to not give up every time she felt stupid for trying or felt overwhelmed. He helped fulfill the things on her checklist, which meant so much to someone like Addie, who was treated so horribly all her life and was never allowed to take the lead. At the same time, Addie stood by his side and helped him work through his feelings of guilt and regret for leaving his family in order to cope with the situation. Their relationship grew from friends to lovers so beautifully and effortlessly with how they seemed to connect and open up about their past and struggles with each other.
It was amazing to see how Addie found her place with the Eastons, who showed her what a family should be like. She finally found her family, friends, herself, and a love that she never thought she would have in her life with Beckett.
All the attacks made me so angry on Addie's behalf, and I just wished they all got what they deserved (which they did thankfully).

This was a fun read that I really enjoyed. I'm always down for the brother's best friend trope. The book was cute, sweet, witty, spicy, funny, touching, and overall just leaves you feeling happy and content.
Layla is in desperate need of a vacation and is all set to kickstart her trip to Lake Como, Italy, with her best friend, Charolette. But when Charolette has to cancel her trip at the last minute due to an unexpected situation, she doesn't want to ruin this vacation for Layla, so she tries to find someone who could travel with her last minute, which ultimately leads to Josh going on this trip in her stead.
Josh and Layla don't get along, not since the way things went down between them almost a decade ago. But when his best friend and Layla's older brother, Asher, asks him for a favor to accompany his sister on a vacation that is much needed for her, Josh gives in and agrees.
At first, neither of them are thrilled about this turn of events and can't help but bicker or ignore one another. But once they reach Italy, the beauty of the place immediately puts them at ease, and they can't help but share their awe and admiration for the place with each other. As they spend time together, in only one room, with only one bed and no escape from all the proximity, they can't deny the chemistry and growing tension between them.
Josh was a very lovable character. He knew how to push her buttons to get her to react and loved it when she reacted to him. He was proud of Layla for getting to where she had and supported her every step of the way, knowing that she was her own person, but at the same time he also took care of her and showered her with attention and love, making sure Layla knew how special she was to him. Everything he did to bring a smile to her face was incredibly sweet. He also took the steps to make up for his mistakes, even though it was a struggle for him.
Josh has insecurities that hold him back from starting something with Layla, and he's spent a long time fighting to keep his feelings for her suppressed. I truly felt bad for the things he felt about himself and how he seemed convinced by the voices in his head. But with this trip and all the time he's spending getting to truly know Layla, he starts wondering if he could be the right person for her after all. And once he makes up his mind, he gives it his all.
Layla was a really amazing character. She worked really hard to get her business to where it was and valued her independence a lot. She wanted someone who would support her dreams and wouldn't be intimidated by them. She has closed herself off from relationships for a while now and has put all her time and focus on her work. This trip is about finding herself and trying to have a balance between her career and having new experiences in life.
Layla had her heart broken once by Josh a decade ago and has resorted to keeping him at a distance. But spending all that time in close proximity and having these new experiences alongside Josh makes it difficult to keep up the pretense. All the feelings she's had for him for years start to bubble up, but at the same time she doesn't want to risk getting hurt by him again.
At first they had a rocky start when the trip began due to all the animosity that's grown between them in the past decade. However, as they explore Italy, they also start exploring more about each other, seeing how easy it is to be together when they aren't trying so hard to keep their distance. I loved how Josh slowly works on proving himself to her and patiently waits for her to give him a chance. Their relationship really felt effortless, and they helped put each other's doubts and worries to rest with time.
The spice was freaking amazing. Josh's dirty talking was SO HOT, and I loved every second of it. The way he loved taking control in the bedroom had me fanning myself. I especially loved this because Layla wasn't shy about asking for what she likes, or experimenting with Josh, and taking control too.
I love how supportive the side characters were. They were a fun mix, and I'm definitely interested in reading all their books.
I do wish there was at least one chapter or a flashback showing us what happened in the past or how they were with each other before things got messed up, but that's just my opinion because that's something I personally like in books.

WOW!! I really enjoyed this book a lot. It was filled with magic, betrayals, cunning mirrors, tricky deals, plot twists, vampires, a murder mystery, threats, and lots of tension.
The whole concept of the gods being trapped in the mirrors and making tricky bargains with people at a cost was so riveting. I'm hoping to see Quinn's interaction with the three remaining mirrors in the next book(s) too. I also have so many questions when it comes to Nightshade and Jane. Periwinkle was so adorable that I'm sure I would have fumbled and made terrible bargains with her.
Quinn was a really strong character who knew what she wanted and wouldn't let anything get in her way. She was smart, loyal, brave, and has worked really hard to achieve her dreams, even though she had no support from her uncle. After losing her family at such a young age and then spending so many years working at the morgue, she has difficulty connecting with people or letting her guard down around anyone. Her working as a medical examiner and being a ballet dancer were such contradictions in a way, but it worked for her. The parts where she actually used ballet to defend herself were new, and I'm here for it.
Prince Emrys was perfect in every way, and I loved his character. He was funny, charming, mischievous, loved to push Quinn's buttons, and just owned every room he walked into. AND he's a shadow daddy. He was the only one who was also always honest with Quinn and didn't treat her like she couldn't handle herself. He admired her mind and resilience. He has secrets of his own that he's hidden from the world, and he needs to work with Quinn to solve the case in order to make sure it stays a secret.
The banter between Prince Emrys and Quinn was SO good. And with all that banter comes a healthy dose of tension, and don't even get me started on Quinn's lessons in passion. Their relationship starts off with Quinn hating Emrys for years as he keeps messing with her and her work. But when they are forced to work together to reach a common goal, Quinn finds out more about Emrys and realizes she might not hate him all that much after all.
Quinn and Emrys teaming up to solve the murder was fascinating to read about, as they tracked down the clues and tried to figure out what happened to Quinn's friend. Also, Quinn's friends working with her to help with the search made the story more compelling. There is so much more that we don't know yet, and all those questions have me so curious.
What in the fucking mirrors was that ending?!?!?! I'm stunned. How am I supposed to wait till 2025 to find out what happens next??? What am I supposed to do with myself until then????

This was slightly disappointing, not due to the plot, but due to two characters.
After the incident that upended the lives of all the Eastons, Hadley Easton had to pay for it by being stuck in her house and following rules that suffocated her. She was the one who was seen as a freak for being locked away in her home. The only person who understood her need for control and freedom was Calder. Her brother's best friend, who became an important part of her life.
Now, years later, Calder isn't the same person he was. Marred by the guilt and regrets of his past, he walked away from Hadley too, and things have never been the same between them again.
But someone is hell bent on taking away Hadley's freedom—the life she has created for herself and her reprieve from the world. When Calder finds out, he steps in to make sure she's okay, and it feels harder to walk away this time.
----------------------------------------------------------------
After feeling trapped for so long and walking on eggshells around her mom, Hadley desperately needed her freedom and some sense of control in her life. She chased that adrenaline and the sense of freedom she got with it. But no one knows about the double life she's leading while she also works as an EMT. The videos she made for her channel were more like an outlet for her to put her feelings out there and not feel so lonely, while also meeting more people who she can connect with and help.
Calder had his own issues after what went down with his ex and how close he came to losing everything while he was busy chasing the next thrill with Hadley. This changes him completely, and he tries to shut down the part of him that seeks the rush, the thrill, and the action. Now he wants to play it safe for his girls, which is why he also keeps his distance from Hadley.
Birdie and Sage were really adorable, and I loved their bond with Hadley and how they were furious on her behalf and felt her feelings. Hadley had been in their lives from the day they were born and has her own with both Sage and Birdie, who are so different from each other.
I really liked how Hayes took a stand for Hadley with his mom, knowing how much he didn't enjoy conflicts. He was so supportive throughout and also didn't give Calder shit for dating his sister and was just overall happy for both of them.
I had nothing against the plot and the suspense, which I am a fan of when it comes to Catherine Cowles. She manages to keep you at the edge of your seat and guessing throughout the book. I was hooked. I was totally invested in knowing who was targeting Hadley and how it would turn out, which didn't disappoint.
What I didn't like:
What I had an issue with were Hadley's mom and Calder.
I really wish Calder had groveled more for the stunt he pulled in the past, after his divorce. The things he said to her were too hurtful, especially knowing how her mom treated her. After being her confidant for so many years, he basically said the things he knew caused her pain. Calder was also the one who got her used to becoming an adrenaline junkie and was right by her side for years, up until the incident with his ex-wife.
It's understandable to let your emotions get the best of you and say things you didn't mean, but Calder had four years to talk it out with Hadley and clear things up. Instead, he let his own guilt over his past cloud him, and he took that out on Hadley by disapproving of everything she did to seek the thrill and freedom she needed. Even in the present, he said a lot of things that were mean. AND he always sided with her mom, ever since they had a fallout. I also expected him to stand up to her mom sooner after they began working on being friends again.
I couldn't really see the transition between them going from friends to lovers. Strangers to friends again was still okay, even if there was a lot of back and forth, but then the jump from friends to lovers didn't really do it for me, and it just felt like it was done because it had to be done. Again, it comes back to me personally feeling that Calder didn't put in the time and effort needed to fix all the damage he had done and earn her.
When it comes to her mom, Julia, I honestly cannot like her even in the next book because of how terrible and rude she was with Hadley throughout the book. It was toxic AF, and I hate that no one from her family stood up for her till almost the 70% mark. They all just kept saying both were right in their own way (which wasn't true) and that her mom did love her and acted that way because of that (debatable). They were all just enabling Julia for years and didn't reprimand her for the way she behaved because, honestly, she was SO far out of line. Hadley truly deserved better. And that ending where Julia has just started therapy and says like two lines to apologize to her and talks about not having dealt with the past can't make up for how awful she was to Hadley throughout the book. Even if Hadley forgave her, I couldn't.

Sixty seconds. Twenty breaths. That was all it took for Everly's life to forever be turned upside down when she walks into the station to report her father's crime. Post which Everly had to leave town in order to survive.
Now 15 years later, Everly has returned to Wolf Gap to start over and to feel close to her mother again. Her family isn't happy with her return and makes it known that she isn't welcome. However, the person who hates her return more than her family is the person whose family was the victim of her father's crime.
Hayes is the town sheriff who has spent the last fifteen years living with the guilt of what happened to his sister all those years ago and has dedicated his life to protecting his family from ever being in such a situation again. When he realizes that Everly is back, he snaps and asks her to leave town so his family doesn't have to see her and remember everything they've suffered through.
But as time goes by, he sees Everly's struggles and the consequences of her actions from when she'd decided to help his family by coming forward. And when someone in town starts targeting her, his resolve to keep her safe only grows.
Hayes still deals with a lot of guilt from the time his sister was taken when he was young. That guilt has turned into him working himself to the bone in order to keep his family safe. His family is no longer the same after that incident and there is a lot of strain between everyone and he tries his best to keep everyone together. Which is why when he first sees Everly after fifteen years, he is stunned and immediately reacts harshly, asking her to leave town. But once he cools down he realizes how he messed up and let his own emotions get the better of him, post which he apologizes to her and tries to make up for his rude behavior by deciding to help her get settled.
Everly was such a brave character and was truly admirable right from the time she was 11. She knew what her father was doing was wrong and even knowing what the consequences might be, she still reports him and saves Shiloh. This causes her to get punished by her uncle and brother post which she had to leave town to stay safe. But she made sure to train and get stronger so she was never in that vulnerable position again. Given how she'd led her life after that incident, she finds it hard to trust people or rely on them, but as the story progresses, we see her slowly leaning on Hayes for support and trusting him.
I loved how Everly bonded with Shiloh and had this way of knowing what she needed and how to be around her without spooking her. Everly fit in with the Eastons so effortlessly and they took her in and treated her like she was their own. This meant so much to Ever knowing how her own family treated her and how she still felt responsible for her father's actions.
Hayes and Everly slowly formed a friendship as he helped her work on getting her place ready and they slowly got together like they had always fit. The shift in their relationship felt so natural and easy. Hayes knew that the bond he had formed and feelings he felt for Everly were long term and he expressed them as such and patiently waited for her to catch up. Everly feared that the past and what she represents would make Hayes walk away from her one day so she keeps herself guarded, but they eventually work through it all.
The suspense aspect throughout the book kept me on edge which is always the case for any Catherine Cowles book, and this was the first time I was able to guess who could be behind the attacks... well, not entirely (she still managed to take me by surprise) but I was kinda close.
Eager to Read Calder and Hadley's book next.

I loved this book so much, and I don't know what to do with myself now that it's over. I truly wish I could read this again for the first time. I kept putting off reading this because of how long it seemed, but now that I'm done, I want more of Avi and Kyran.
I would highly highlyyyy recommend the audiobook because the narrators have done such a brilliant job. They were absolutely perfect for these characters and really brought out their personalities so well, which helped me connect with them better and also really feel all their emotions and conflicts.
Kyran and Avi first meet during high school, when their parents start dating and get serious enough to introduce each other to their families. Kyran despises Avi right from the very first meeting and hopes this thing between his dad and Avi's mom, Hannah, fizzles out soon. However, things don't go that way, and they end up getting married shortly after, making Avi and Kyran stepbrothers who are now forced to share the same house and live in close quarters. As time goes by, the animosity between them only seems to grow, and Kyran can't wait to get out of home and move to college, where he no longer has to deal with Avi, but his plans get ruined again when Avi also gets accepted to the same college.
Avi learns to keep his distance from Kyran at college, but then when Kyran's dad's business goes under and they have to figure out a way to manage their own tuition, stay, and other expenses, they have no idea how to go about it. Until Avi's best friend, Frankie, convinces him to start an OnlyFans account to make money, and when she gets requests for a threesome and asks Avi, he agrees. And who better to add to the mix than Kyran, who is also in desperate need of money and would never speak of it to anyone again?
When the threesome leads to the fans wanting more of Kyran and Avi because of the chemistry between them, they reluctantly decide to go for it in order to get the money. But as they start experimenting for the fans, they can't deny the growing desire they both feel for each other, and before they know it, hooking up no longer seems to be for the benefit of the fans. It's forbidden, and if the truth ever came out, everything could come tumbling down in their lives, but they can't seem to stop.
Avi and Kyran were truly the perfect match for each other. Where Kyran needed to desperately be in full control and planned out every aspect of his life meticulously, focusing on his future in the NFL, Avi was his total opposite and was the laid-back, stoner artist who didn't care what anyone thought about him. But at the same time, they were both similar in the sense that they were both figuring themselves out and where they fit into this world in their own way.
Kyran's behavior towards Avi did piss me off initially, but when we found out the reason behind it, it just broke my heart for him and all that he had to go through. There is so much more to him than what we initially see. His character development throughout the book was done so well, and you can feel his fear, conflicts, desire, and uncertainty so clearly and how he eventually comes to terms with who he is. I loved the fact that he tried so hard even when he was terrified of what it all meant.
Avi was literally the best, and he deserves the world. It really hurt to read how he saw himself and how he felt so lonely and like he didn't belong, though he didn't let anyone see that. As the story progresses, we see him find his people, figure himself out, and ultimately feel happy about the person he was and the life he had. The way he loved Kyran was exactly what he needed and was so good to him even after all the times Kyran was rude to him. Avi was also really hilarious, and his inner thoughts and monologue made me laugh, especially being the mascot for their college football team.
I really liked the concept of the OF account and how, as Avi and Kyran figure out their relationship and themselves, they are doing so along with the fans who were so invested in them and supported them throughout, even if that's not how it initially began.
I was literally in tears at some parts because it was just so overwhelming. I really liked how Kyran took the time to work on himself so he could love Avi the way he deserved to be loved. I also really loved how Avi kept reassuring Kyran and just never stopped opening the door for him time and time again. He was so patient with him. The growth in both of these characters was so commendable throughout the book, and you could feel the shift in their relationship as it progressed.
The spice was so insane in this book that I absolutely couldn't keep a straight face even after having mastered the art of not giving away anything while reading smut. Once these two started, they just couldn't stop, and I'm so glad they didn't stop. I LOVEDDDD the spice.
Absolutely loved how amazing Frankie was to Avi, and she's the kind of friend everyone needs. I definitely loved the side characters and how amazing they were as friends, and didn't shame these two for being together.

This was such a fun and light read and left me feeling so good and happy.
I liked the fact that there were some chapters from their past. Not too many to make it like a dual timeline, but enough for us to see how and when Casey's feelings for Jessie started and progressed over her teen years, which was honestly so cute.
I really loved Casey and how she cared about everyone in her life and showed them that through her actions. Her relationship with Jessie developed so well, and it was so cute to watch them become friends and watching it gradually turn into more as they spent more time. It was so easy to root for them, and they were just so good together.
Jessie had his own reasons to live his life in solitude, avoiding people and never letting anyone get close again because of his past experience. But he needed someone he could go to, and Casey was that person. She slowly helped him get comfortable with the group, become a part of it and was also just by his side with whatever he needed. She helped him realize that he wanted more for himself and not keep living in his past and in fear.
Jessie and Casey really fit well together and helped each other out so much. Casey helped Jessie feel again, which he felt was impossible given his past. He really had to work through his insecurities from his past in order to do right by Casey, and she waited for him patiently through it all. After being someone who went above and beyond to take care of everyone's needs, but never really being anyone's priority or focusing on what she needs, Casey finally had someone who took care of her and put her needs above all. Their way of letting each other know their feelings through classic literature was so damn adorable and I was just swooning so hard.
I also liked how things worked out between Casey and her sister, Grace, and how she slowly came to terms with the fact that she can't always fix everything and that she needs to voice out her feelings too.
Jessie and his dirty talking mouth. Good GOD!!! The spice was really good and had me blushing.
"I want you to choke me and tell me how pretty I am." Girl SAMEEE!!!
The side characters were all so different but worked together so well and were a group you'd want to be a part of. Rosie was just so amazing, and I can't wait to read her book.

Boy did this book hit all the right spots for me. It had all the tropes I love, which was done so well. I saw the book suggestion on Instagram, and you better believe I bolted to pick this up.
When her ex-boyfriend cons her out of money, Layla Birch has no choice other than going to Devil's Peak Ranch in order to confront him, but when she reaches his place, he is nowhere to be found, but the person she comes across is his dad, Colton Wilder.
When the weather takes a turn for the worse, trapping Layla at the ranch with no way for her to get to her new place of employment, Colton offers her a place to stay and a job so she can get the hours needed to graduate.
Colton Wilder is a cowboy living in his secluded little ranch in Crimson Ridge, away from people and minding his own business. After years of growing animosity between him and his son, he is trying his best to mend things between them and work on their relationship, so the last thing he needs is feeling an undeniable attraction towards his son's ex-girlfriend, who is now depending on him for her job and shelter.
But as they spend all that time with each other, away from the rest of the world, snowed in and in close proximity, they can't help the attraction that seems to be growing between them. It's forbidden, and they try their best to not give into it but can only deny themselves for so long.
I did have an issue with how Colt initially behaved with Layla when he was being jealous or when other men tried to get friendly with her. That was the only issue I had, but once things progress with these two, everything gets better.
The chemistry between these two was off the fucking charts. They both kept trying to deny their attraction because of Colt's son and how it would be so wrong for them to give into this desire. Though they both had an initial instant attraction, I liked that this was a slow burn and the tension between them kept brewing gradually until they finally snapped. The angst was so well done; all that push and pull made it that much better.
I really loved the way Colton took care of Layla without even trying and how Layla felt a sense of belonging at the ranch with Colt and the animals. She just fit right in. It was nice how the two fell into a routine so effortlessly right from the start, even when Colton was being grumpy and trying to keep his distance from Layla. Once they get together, we see a completely new side of Colton, and he was such a softie and totally gone for Layla. He has his own scars from his past that made him the way he is, but I really liked how he opened up to Layla and how she understood him and loved him more for it. There was a slight mystery aspect to the story as well, which had to do with Colton's family and past.
I am so gone for Daddy Colton because, OH. MY. GODDDD!!! The spice in this book is so freaking hot, and I couldn't put the book down. My jaw was on the floor, and I'm on my knees for Colton Wilder.
The third-act conflict really tugs on your heartstrings with how much these two want each other but how they both sacrifice their own feelings so Colton could do right by his son.
From the little glimpse we get of Storm's book, I'm so goddamn excited for his book.
