When Lucie’s 12-year-old daughter calls into a love radio show searching for help for her mother to find love people are captivated. Radio show host, Aiden agrees to help Lucie in her quest to find love, setting her up on dates to experience love. Aiden doesn’t believe in love, his family has had their tragedies, and he has given up that it exists. How can Aiden, who doesn’t believe in love, help Lucie find her soulmate while he starts to develop feelings for her?

This was a sweet rom-com. Aiden and Lucie spend much time together and have the best banter and chemistry. Lucie has the love of her found family, but is searching for the magic of true love. I love her interactions with her friends and family, it is obvious how much she cares for them. Aiden says he has given up on love but has a heart full of gold. I mean, he keeps a list of things Lucie loves in his glove box, so he doesn’t forget. One of the sweetest things ever.

This book is a slow burn, and I mean glacial. These two take forever to get together. With that slow burn, you do get some great mutual pining and tension between these two though. Through that, it felt like their relationship developed naturally. They both struggle to believe that they are good enough for the other, but have significant growth individually and as a couple. You can see they truly care for each other.

B.K. Borison’s writing sucks you in with her story-telling and you fall in love with Aiden and Lucie. If you love a good romance, with tons of banter, and two lost souls coming together, this is the book for you! Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley Romance for a copy of this book. Strike and Honor meet on the night she is identifying her twin sister at the morgue. She has no one left in the world, as all of her family has died. Strike helps her out by getting her a ride home. He couldn’t get her out of his mind and hired Honor to create art for his animation studio. When the person who murdered Honor’s sister sets his site on her, Strike comes to her aid and does not let her out of his site. When his past comes to light, Honor must decide whether to accept Strike and all his demons or run far away.

This is a book that is touted as romantic suspense, but there was this touch of morally grey MMC, which felt wanted to elicit “dark” vibes without going all the way there. I did like the dual timeline, where we were able to see Honor’s past and where her past impacted some of the things in her present.

Strike and Burn said it was a romantic suspense, but it failed on both ends. I wasn’t overly attached to either aspect of the story. We knew the answer to the thriller part, and the romance didn’t sway me.

The story and idea had promise, but they weren't executed well. I wanted to love this book, but it wasn’t for me. Thank you to Berkley and Berkley Romance for a free copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Elias is struggling with being a rookie for the Toronto Thunder. Women are enamoured with him, and the tabloids are obsessed, but the team owner, not so much, as he is yet to score his first goal. Sage is an aspiring ballerina but keeps getting passed up for jobs due to her low follower count. When Sage and Elias cross paths, they strike a deal to fake a date, and advantage to both of them. She will gain the following she needs, and the press will leave him alone. It seems like a great plan until feelings become involved.

Elias and Sage are such great characters. Sage has had a tough life and has worked hard to care for her and her brother. She is barely scraping by but wants to chase her dream of ballet. She has always been the caregiver, and no one has ever taken care of her. When Elias enters the picture, he sees that need in her and wants to fill it. He was such a sweet, kind man. One of my favourite things was him buying Sage flowers, in an attempt to help her find her favourite flower.

These two have chemistry from the start. Their banter and tension are so high. At times you could cut it with a knife. You know with this tension, it will eventually break, but this book is a slow burn. I loved the slow-burn romance and the build-up of chemistry between Sage and Elias.

If you love a slow-burn, fake dating romance full of witty banter, this book would be perfect for you!

Scarlett is a competitive diver and starts student, working hard and studying to get into medical school. She is working to recover from a major injury and has no time for relationships. One night, in a drunken state, her friend suggests she hook up with her ex, Lukas. Lukas is the swim captain, world record holder and golden boy of the aquatic world. It looks like Scarlett and Lukas have nothing in common until a secret comes out, and they realize they have more in common than they thought. With the commonality, an arrangement starts. It was supposed to be a fling, but now it is starting to feel like so much more. Scarlett worries about giving up control and giving in to something else.

I fell for Lukas from the start. He comes off as a grumpy curmudgeon, but he is kind and gentle, especially with Scarlett. The way he notices the little things about her, and allows her to get comfortable on her own timeline. He was respectful of her boundaries and was head over heels for her.

Scarlett is a relatable character, with a worry about not being good enough. She has experienced a lot in her life, and although working to cope with it, still has a lot of work to do. Some of the things she did, didn’t make sense to me, but her growth was phenomenal.

The chemistry between the two main characters was off the charts. I love how they explored and grew together, and fell deeper and deeper in love. There was so much pining between these two and I loved their angst and tension.

As Ali usually does, she also created a great cast of characters that added to the story and loved and were frustrated with at the same time. They added to the drama but forced the growth at the same time. I enjoyed that added layer of swimming/diving with a STEM romance, bringing a peek into some characters from The Love Hypothesis.

This was a great story of exploration, love and healing. If you love a story about two deeply connected people, this is the book for you. Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley for a copy of this novel. All opinions are 100% mine.

Izzy is running late for her new job. After the barista at her coffee shop calls “Amy” for her exact coffee order a couple of times, and no one collects, she takes a chance and takes the coffee. Rushing out the door she crashes into a handsome man, Blake, splashing him with coffee. Apologizing profusely, she rushes out the door. She later learns that Blake is not just a cute guy from the coffee shop, but her new boss and the VP of the company. Blake has no patience for liars and doesn’t trust that Izzy doesn’t lie all the time, rather than this one time.

This is is a cute, easy to read rom-com. Blake and Izzy have great banter and really seem to like each other. Blake is a perfect book boyfriend/cat daddy. He may initially be angry with Izzy, but they seem to work it out and I love the friendship they develop. Izzy is a complete opposite to Blake. Where he is stern and organized she is wild and aloof. She adds a little wildness to Blake’s life, and convinces him to ease up a bit.

This was a cute, light hearted story, and they seemed to have some great banter. For me it just needed a bit of a punch to push it above and beyond. There is a third act break-up and I think that is resolved a little to easily and nicely in the end.

If you like a cute and sweet story, this is the one for you! It is a quick, easy read and has some llaugh-out-loudmoments. Thank you to Berkley Romance for a free copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Julianna and Ben don’t hit it off on her first day at work. Julianna is back to work after the loss of her husband. She is now a single parent to two girls and an incident at the school causes her to cancel a meeting she had with Ben. She overhears Ben complaining about her and is angry he would do that. Flash forward two years and the two have been trading barbs since that day (in (mostly) fun). Forced to work together on a project they start to enjoy each other’s company, but Julianna struggles with if there could be two loves in her lifetime.

The tension between these two could be cut with a knife. With that tension comes sparks. Julianna struggles with the death of her husband while managing grief and helping her daughters. She is also dealing with the guilt that comes with being attracted to someone else after losing the love of her life, struggling to understand if she could have another different love with Ben.

Ben initially comes off as the bad guy, but we come to understand his story and the reasons for what he said that first day. He is kind and compassionate, allowing Julianna to move things at her pace while being there for her even as a friend. I loved that Ben was so understanding of the love Julianna had for her husband and openly accepted, and talked about him, while Julianna processed her grief and growing feelings.

I will admit that I didn’t love how some things between Ben and Julianna were handled, but even then, it felt so raw and real that I felt it. There is a third-act break-up that I felt didn’t need to happen and took away from some of the great emotions we saw.

I felt that Julianna’s kids were added so well to the story and were important in the story progression. When her husband died, Julianna had a group of people who surrounded and supported her. The friendships she made, and her parents, helped her manage the job of being a single parent while working through grief. I loved that she had her group of people to help and support her.

Overall, I thought this was an enjoyable read filled with love and emotion. There were many times I found myself crying throughout the book because I could feel those emotions Julianna was going through. I could not believe this was Amy’s first book and I look forward to seeing what she writes in the future. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for a copy of this novel. Opinions are 100% mine.

Grumpy Preston Hott is the third Hott brother who must carry out the wishes of his grandfather’s will to save the family resort/wedding venue. His task is to be in charge of fun. He needs to come up with an all-ages activity program or be the one to cause his family to lose their land. Natalie Archer has just been hired at the resort to develop the program, and now the two must work together to come up with a plan. She is all fun, dancing on the table, whereas Preston is spreadsheets and cufflinks. Total opposites, these two butt heads and cannot seem to get along. Natalie pushes Preston out of his comfort zone, and he starts to see the queen of fun they are spending more time together and suddenly, the things they hated about each other seem insignificant, and both are lusting after each other. They begin to wonder if being such opposites could lead to a happily ever after.

Natalie was such a free spirit that she got Preston to break out of his shell and enjoy himself. They both learn they don’t have to prove their worth to anyone and that people should accept them for who they are. There are many times that these two opposites create hilarious situations, making me laugh out loud. Whether they were jello wrestling, Natalie dancing on a desk, or Preston finding his inner child, these two were excellently matched, even if they didn’t know it yet. Once you get past the tension and bickering, these two respect and care for each other.

I love Serena’s world-building. She creates a fun world where we can catch up with characters from previous books while being able to jump into her writing this book and still enjoy ourselves. I loved seeing what the Hott and Wilder siblings were up to and enjoyed all the fun they had with planning the different activities.

This book is a great story about finding where you belong and your value while containing a happy love story between two opposites. If you like a grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, workplace romance, this book is for you!

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Cammie has secretly had a crush on Chase, campus hockey favourite, since the beginning of the year. The only problem, he doesn’t even know she exists. Until a fire in the dorms sends the floor to a hotel for the nights, they become accidental roommates (an error by the RA). Chase is enamoured immediately and doesn’t know how he hasn’t seen Cammie before. When Cammie realizes that Chase is interested in her, she decides to have some fun. Chase is still interested the next morning and wants to spend time with her. The problem is their lives are completely different. She’s the shy nerdy wallflower, and he’s the outgoing jock. He wants to try out dating, but she isn’t sure how the opposites could come together.

This is a super quick, spicy read. I loved how all in Chase was with Cammie. He showed interest in not only her but what she was doing (like her LoTR fanfic). Chase was so attentive to Cammie, listening to her and trying to figure out how to get their opposite personalities together. I loved his friendship with his bestie, Brody, and how he looked to him for advice. It was so great to see two men discussing feelings and relationships in a non-toxic way. Cammie was a cool character with lots of personality and sass. I loved how, though she seemed more reserved, she was a spitfire, standing up for herself.

I loved the friends in this book, too. Some of the characters are ones we have seen in the Toronto Terror series, but you could go in without having read them. I loved Cammie’s relationship with her sister and her new friendship with Tally.

This was a fun, quick read. If you like a strong female character with a guy who falls head over heels, this is the book for you! Thank you to Helena Hunting for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Wade Ashby has taken over the management of Silver Pines Ranch since his father died, and his wife left him. He hires Ivy as a new horse trainer. He didn’t expect to find a smart-mouthed woman who drives him crazy. Ivy finds herself at Silver Pines after leaving a horrible relationship. She dreams of getting a horse to the Kentucky Derby and Wade is determined to help her. They have opposing views on how to train this horse, her more chaotic than his quiet control. But when these two start spending time together, they realize their chaos and control may work perfectly together.

I thought this was a funny, loving story. Ivy and Wade were both healing from bad past relationships. For Ivy, she had to learn to trust herself and remember the strength she had. She melted Wade’s tough exterior and managed to bring out his dimples when no one else could. While Ivy shows her love through words of affirmation, Wade is a man who shows his love through actions. I loved the little (and big) things he did for Ivy. The growth and transformation of these two was wonderful and I loved watching them fall for each other.

There is a trope in this book that I am not generally a fan of, but I thought it was done well. I loved revisiting Cece and Nash, and the whole Ashby clan. The found family and friendship in this story (and series) is wonderful.

If you like a cowboy romance, with a grump of a man, this will be the perfect book for you! Paisley Hope is a master of writing cowboys and I cannot wait to see what is next!

Nate Shaw has had a secret for as long as he can remember. He has loved Haven Larson for as long as he has known her. Haven Larson fell for Nate one night years ago. He protected her from the horrors of her childhood. However, he rejected her when she offered him her love. Years later, she avoids him, but he always has her attention. It is clear to everyone that Nate and Haven have feelings for each other, except for these two, but leaping and letting the love happen is hard and scary.

Kelly Elliott has a knack for developing her characters in a way that makes you fall in love with them and root for them. Haven has had a tough life, and I was cheering for her to succeed and find love. Haven was almost a little too independent, not wanting to accept help from anyone. She is struggling to make ends meet and open the dog park she wants to but doesn’t want to accept help from anyone. Nate broke down those walls by helping her and showing her love and kindness. The journey to love for these two was not easy, but they overcame so many obstacles (many they put in their way) to be together.

With Nate, comes the large Shaw family. I love how this family supports and loves each other so much. I also think it is wonderful when they take people into their fold, and love and support them. Many of these characters have been the focus of other books in this series, but it is unnecessary to read the previous ones to love this couple. I, however, am excited to go back and read the other books in this series!

If you love childhood friends, to enemies to lovers story this is the perfect book for you! Thank you to Grey’s PR and the author for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.
