The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes by Leonard Goldberg

This was a cute mystery book. Nice story, good twist, but a little predictable.

3.5 Stars.. it was okay, just fine. I liked it but there were some things I felt did not really add to the story, and at the end it started to get a little strange (I guess is the way I’ll describe it). I’m just not sure if read a follow up. This book also felt like it took me forever to get through.

I like this story-well Hades and Persephone retellings in general-but I wish there was more to it. It was building up and then just abruptly ended and not how I expected.. interesting story though!
I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara

I really enjoyed this book. She put in a lot of time and effort researching this, and I’m happy that her husband and friends helped to finish it the way she would have.

I really enjoyed this! It did a great job of keeping my interest and attention the whole book. This was an easy read too. I thought Magnus was a bit whiny at times.

I’ve had this book on my self for several years at this point and finally decided to give it ago after watching a video comparing it against the movie (which I love!) and WOW are there some differences.. I enjoyed reading it, though it’s written like a classic story (so some of the words and structure is a little hard to understand), but it’s definitely for older readers and adults. There are adult themes, language and violence so it’s vastly different from the movie in that regard.

This book was tough for me to initially get into. I don't like to DNF books, so I kept reading. There were parts that were really frustrating to read, just because for the characters some of the pain could have been eased if they had just worked together. In the end, I thought this was a great book. The characters perseverance, the sacrifices they made for each other all really brought this story full circle for me. About the last forty pages are so were just incredibly sad, and I did think that it all sort of ended really fast.. most of the book seemed drawn out while they were going through the war, but not much on the aftermath and how they managed to go on with their life. So I would say 4.5 stars for me.
Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas

This book actually really hit home for me. Not something I was expecting from a DC Icons book. Selina's sister is diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis- if you don't know what that is I encourage you to look it up, it comes in many forms and is incurable. This whole story is centered around Selina trying to save her sister, to find a cure. It's not something you really realize until closer to the end, but I just enjoyed the story as a whole. As someone with a close family member who passed away from CF, this book really got to me at the end. All we want is for there to be a cure, and that may never come, but this book gives a bit of hope for that...
All Our Hidden Gifts by Caroline O'Donoghue

An absolute gem of a book. I love the characters and how they all interact with each other. I loved the story, the lore, and the dabbling into occult themes. I thought it addressed some of the LGBTQ+ struggles and would like to see how that is incorporated into the next book, and if it’s expanded on further.
