Fun and interesting concept for a sports manga, which was why I initially picked this up on release. I’m enjoying it so far, and while it does fall into some sports manga tropes, I am looking forward to reading more volumes.

This one was pretty cute! I’ll probably continue it since it’s only 3 volumes. The art has some odd moments like that big smile from Akamatsu later on, but otherwise, I like it.

They always take my hobby, which I do out of passion and frame it as something I could be doing for a man.
Gross.

This was so good! I love Nomoto and Kasuga, both as individuals and as a couple, and I’m really enjoying their thoughts and feelings and how they’re changing towards each other. The art is simple but beautiful and honestly, made me really hungry.

Collectively, a 3.16 star average. My favorites were Slug Girl and The Bloody Story of Shirosuna. Like with most Junji Ito collections, lots of misses and few hits for me. My biggest disappointment was Washed Ashore because it was such wasted potential for a cool story.

The premise of the book hooked me immediately, and I loved the idea of a cosmic horror centered on grief and loss. Unfortunately, it was incredibly slow paced from the get-go, arguably getting MUCH slower during the second part/story recollection. The final act was interesting, but I was so ready for this book to be over. I was mentally checked out, which is unfortunate because I would have liked the ending more had the pacing not been so terrible.

NOT THE DEAD PERSON FISH MONSTER SEX. I had to legit skip through that part ngl

Slate and Caliban…. My beloveds 💖

Reading Kingfisher’s afterword and learning that Caliban was influenced by moody paladins in video games (namely Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age), all I can say is: she got GOOD fucking tastes. What a slay.
