I can’t get over how much fun this series is. The humor is delightful, the magic system is neat, the characters are some of my favorites and the romance is perfection. There is literally no excuse for you to not pick up this series (starts with Throne in the Dark).

The dual narration is well done if you prefer audio.

If we’re being completely honest, here, I still have no idea how the magic system works, I have no idea how to pronounce any of the names, and it was a very slow story. HOWEVER, it’s a very good story. I loved every single character, and the story itself was engaging.

If you’re looking for a fast paced, easy read, this isn’t it. But if you like heavy world building and complicated magic systems then this is for you.

As a clinician, I found I knew a lot of the material. However, as the child of an emotionally immature adult I do think there was benefit. I also appreciate that it wasn't heavy with clinical language. Definitely something I would recommend to people dealing with this.

The only cool thing about this book was that, thanks to sparkle boy’s mind reading, we got some other perspectives. Is it worth it to suffer through the reading equivalent of walking uphill in sand? Definitely not. This was as boring as reading a chemistry textbook (sorry for the comparison to all the chemistry fans).

I don’t typically like poetry, but this was incredible.

I started this on audio and was having a hard time getting into it. I found the ebook and started over and was able to engage much better. There’s a lot of different formatting that doesn’t convey well on audio. I ended up listening while reading and found that a really enjoyable experience. The book is worth reading so find the format that works for you and read it.
