If I could give this book 6 stars, I would. Chris Carter never fails to surprise me. I read any other book and 99% of the time I can figure out who’s committed the crime. But Chris, OMG he has you hooked and manipulated through the entire thing. Nothing could have prepared me for the ending. READ THIS 10/10

The only thing about this book that lets it down is how slow paced it is. We were left on a cliffhanger with lots of missing context as to what was happening towards the end. It was like 3/4 of the book was pointless and everything happened in the last few chapters. I wish there was more context about the mysterious things that were happening, not just ‘the world is gonna end that’s why the neighbours are so weird’ A lot of characters were killed off for the fun of it which was really weird. And the husband drugging her? We never find out why he feels the need to help the serial killer neighbours.

Overall an enticing book. It follows the story of Evelyn Hugo and her battles with becoming a movie star. It’s interesting to understand the lives that these people are living. There is a huge plot twist in the end as to why evelyn specifically wanted this particular person to write her story and although it took a while to get there, it truly altered my perspective on the story and made me enjoy it just that much more. it was also really nice to read about someone gay in a time where that wasn’t accepted and how evelyn got around her love and made it work, including all the struggles she went through.

This is a great book. It has lots of plot twists and it gets very dark at some points. there is a very weird love triangle going on and a hugely weird and concerning age gap which unsettled me and, though important for the plot, it could have been avoided as it is illegal and weird

This is an OK book. I feel it dragged quite a bit. The plot is great, but it is quite obvious what happened from early on. Predictable. It was enjoyable, but some areas were quite boring and didn’t really add to the plot of the book.

Honestly the best book I have read IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!! This book is so enticing. It is completely different from any other thriller I have ever read, and is full of interesting knowledge about psychology and why serial killers are the way they are. It is gruesome and extremely deep but the best written book ever.
