i actually liked this a lot!

every character was well written and didn’t feel like they were created just to move the plot the way the protagonists needed.

and i know there are a lot of characters from previous books so someone could chalk up the characterization being good to the reader already knowing the characters, but i didn’t! i only read daria’s book besides this one, and i still felt connected to everyone. and also to the side characters that were new.

this story was heart-wrenching, heartbreaking, and heart warming — just full of heart!

the things that pull bailey and lev apart aren’t big, cinematic secrets and moments. they’re insecurities, bad feelings, daily circumstances. it’s incredibly realistic because life happens and they’re not equipped to deal with the situations, which drives them away from each other. then when they find healthier (even if momentarily painful) ways of coping and living, they find their way back to each other.

the soft “magical” parts with the doves and the signs they felt like they were getting from a loved one were so sweet 🥺🥺

this is a good book. a romance, a love story, that doesn’t trivialize the other parts of life.

“oh, this bitch needs to be put down” - maddy perez

who the hell prescribed lizzie valium? she needs horse tranquilizer or smth

this friend group are better (and more patient) people than me, and maybe a little stupid for putting up with this shit for so long. gibs was also too tolerant, poor bb didn’t deserve any of it :(

i love gibsie, he’s adorable. i think he’s my fav. and i wanted to see more of him with claire but everything was mostly about friend group drama :((

the guys are annoying, uninteresting little bitches. gabe is always whining, nox needs xanax and north acts like he’s oli’s father AND parole officer. what about all that is sexy or exciting or fun?

there’s also the lack of world building. oli says something about the “human world” but we don’t get to know how that world and the world of the gifted divide. is it a shadowhunters thing where they live among people but like, hidden? or is it more of like another realm or something? oli also says “jesus christ” sometimes but we don’t know if there’s a belief system for the gifted.

i mean, this world building thing would be whatever to me if i liked the characters and the romance, and if i had fun. but i didn’t.

and this whole bond thing is so weird. they’re, like, biologically meant to be with specific people so they can strengthen their powers. that makes them feel this pull of attraction EVEN if they aren’t in love or even if they don’t actually wanna sleep with with the other person. that’s kinda weird.

atlas was totally right to want to knock nox out. why tf did he interpret bond attraction as the ultimate deciding factor of what oli truly wanted? lol

by the way, the guys hate oli with fiery passion because when she lost her family at 14 she ran away instead of finding them. they’re holding a grudge towards the decisions of a grieving 14 year old girl. they’ll not be able to handle teenage kids lol

also, imagine how weird would it have been if oli went to them when she was 14? gabe and atlas are around her age but north is a whole 10 years older. imagine him having to pratically raise her and then having to, yk, do the whole bonding thing. ewwww

anyway, i like sage, she’s cute with felix and i also like sawyer. atlas is cool. oli is whatever and she has no chemistry with the guys.

all that being said, i’d be pissed if everyone around me had cool names like nox, oleander and atlas, and i got stuck with “gabe” lol

i take it back, i actually love every character.

i can’t believe i finished all 6 books in a week, i wasn’t expecting liking them so much when i started.

these are actually good, and the only criticism i’ll accept is about the titles.

also i’m so glad we got the happy endings WITHOUT pregnancies. every book nowadays has to end with a fucking baby as if that were the pinnacle of happiness and i find it infuriating lol

now i’m gonna miss the characters 😔😔

I really hate the high court, and I hope the three devils suffer. They don’t deserve Aran.

I’m actually nervous for the next book, like, what else are they gonna put her through?!!!!

Still love John. And also the, hm… surprise he comes with!!

Anyways, I don’t want Aran to end up with the devils. Girl’s been through too much, mentally, yes, but definitely physically, to be with people who tormented her and, by nature, aren’t sweet. And definitely don’t want her to start having sex with a guy who belts people. Let her body rest 🙄🙄🙄🙄
