these guys are so annoying, ew (not you, john. you’re an angel and we’re thrilled to have you here <3). i liked sadie’s men better tbh

i love aran though, i wish she didn’t have to go through so much shit 🥺🥺🥺 she deserves better

look, i decided to read this bc the series/book titles were so bad. so, i obviously knew it wasn’t gonna be the pinnacle of literature — but i didn’t expect it to be so fun jfjgjgkh

the characters were surprisingly likeable imo. sadie could’ve been one of those regular annoying™️ protagonists but i actually liked her. i also liked that the guys were different to each other which is also surprising in this type of book.

i liked the relationship between jax and cobra (what a name…) and their dynamics with sadie. ascher (with a C!) was kinda unecessary tbh. he didn’t need to be there, imo. aran felt more important than him.

the world was interesting and very different from others i’ve read, though i’m still confused abt some stuff.

and interestingly, i actually got invested. sometimes i felt uneasy bc poor sadie’s body didn’t catch a break. also, at some parts i was actually like, tense bc i wanted them to get out of stuff okay.

anywaysss, 4/5 bc i’m not a technical reader. if i had fun, i had fun!

i have such a soft spot for this book. liz has so much depth and i relate A LOT to most of her feelings and thoughts.
i also cared about the other characters, i wanted more of them. and more of the aftermath of the “accident”.
also, the narrator being liz’s imaginary friend from childhood!!! that’s so cool.

this is was so well done, so well constructed and thought out, everything fits!!! loved it!!

blurbs: the haunting of hill house meets (something)
one of the narrators: is seemingly a ghost
me when kennedy says the house is haunted: omg there are ghosts in the book!

ryan made me so uneasy but i felt bad for him at first, thinking he had his reasons to act like that… and he did. but those reasons didn’t justify his behavior at all lol

as soon as he called himself a nice guy, my suspicions about his character were confirmed. like, being petty and bitter because of the situation he was in is one thing, but he  used it all to justify his already growing resentment about his friends and was SO over-the-top about it.

must be a family thing because like, emily sweetie, you did way TOO much, went way TOO far to avenge your reddit dwelling, inc*l of a brother lol. calm down. she was just like ryan too — chase is her chelsea and mila is her kennedy.

anyways, everything can be summed up by kennedy saying “I wish my friends weren’t so dramatic.”

i wasn’t really that attached to mina or her relationship with sophie so i didn’t think i’d get emotional, but at the end,
when things were solved, you just feel the weight of what happened to them. it was so tragic and unfair. they were so young. they deserved a shot. they deserved better.

my heart broke with “we walk into the rest of our lives together, not knowing it'll end before it's truly started.” or better yet, it felt like my heart was ripped out.

and “mina's night-lights will endure. year after year, trev will replace them when they dim. and i know that someday, when i’m ready to come home, they'll light my way.

i feel like throwing up. THEY DESERVED BETTER!!!!!!
