I could not put this down because it was that good. I really love the premise, characters, everything. It is such a unique fantasy novel and was really well done with great twists and turns. I do agree with others that it’s not really an enemies to lovers romance. I really look forward to the second book.

Glad I stuck with it

Initially I was along for the ride. The premise seemed intriguing but nothing was pulling me in. Too much reliance on the reader caring/being interested in the secrets of characters we barely knew.

Too much reliance on withholding information for a big ahah moment

in relation to her sister

. Also Hayes giving up such monumental secrets less than 200 pages in with barely any interaction between him and Saoirse felt a bit too unnatural/naive. The constant pet names really aged the book down and made it feel middle grade instead of YA.

BUT at around 59% when all the secrets were out and the author could just focus on telling a story is when everything got all consuming! I binged the entire last bit in one sitting. At first I was so sure I’d just finish this book and stop and now I can’t wait to get my hands on book 2.

2. The audiobook is fantastic and I highly recommend it. I devoured this book in 24hours.

On suit Saoirse, une sirène au royaume de Keirdre. Elle va être alors promue comme garde personnel du prince. Entre son secret et sa haine de la famille royale, elle va découvrir de nombreuses révélations. J’aime beaucoup ce personnage un peu anti-héros qui, malgré tout, est tiraillé entre le bien et le mal. Une lecture fluide avec un ennemies to lovers bien amené ainsi que des plot twists.
