After seven chapters I had a lot of information but still didn't feel or care about any of the characters or their secrets

BROOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! The slow burn is indeed burning slow. My god. They were so close, then they said no. Anyway, this was SUPER good. I love the betrayal trope. I did spoil it for myself, which made the reveal not as fun as it was supposed to be, but oh well. I loved the all POC cast. I loved that somehow everyone was gorgeous. Most of all, I loved the romance. Can’t wait to read book two.

From chapter one, I loved the FMC. Saoirse is everything I want in a main character — strong, morally grey, and unapologetic. She truly delivered.

Hayes? He started off annoying (let’s be real), but he grew on me — and by the end, I actually cared about him way more than I expected.

It had a bit of enemies-to-lovers energy with a nice slow burn that kept me hooked. And that ending? It hurt a little but it also gave me hope for book two. Can’t wait to see how their relationship develops.
