I was not enjoying it. The supposed heroine is nothing but a serial killer. Of course sirens were wiped out if they're giddily going around murdering people. This is not the kind of person I want to read about.

Really liked the book and I think the world-building and the explanations of the magic system were done really well. My biggest complaint, however, is how quickly the romance developed. I didn't love how it felt very insta-love, especially when I went into the book thinking it was supposed to be enemies to lovers. I also feel like everything happened so fast with how the story progressed, and how quickly the main character specifically as it made things feel real forced and convenient.

4.5/5 - Definitely not a enemies-to-lovers trope but the world and plot were SO fun.

I REALLY like Saoirse and Hayes. So cute. Excited to see where they end up in the next book. I also find her to be a good main character who isn't too annoying or naive.

As for the worldbuilding, I just have some questions that I think the book should've helped to answer a bit: 1) does she know how she was conceived or does anyone know? 2) how does she explain to others about drinking water or bathing if she's supposedly ill around water? 3)
Spoiler why did her parents not know/do anything when Rain was kidnapped?

Anyways, excited for the next book.

So this was fun. Nothing exceptional, kinda followed the standard Tyrant King + Spaced Out Queen + Oblivious Prince with a resistance trying to take over. I liked the writing, I thought everything flowed well and I enjoyed it but I would have liked a little more world building, I think that would have made me enjoy it more. Hopefully we see some more in book 2.

While I’m never really a fan of the ignorant Prince trope, I didn’t mind Hayes, but I struggled with Saoirse and her siren nature.

I saw part of the plot twist coming so that sucked but I also expected something else so when that didn’t happen it was nice lol.
