Blech. I got to maybe chapter 2 in this and had to put it aside. What did it? The female lead character is leaving the house and the male character (her future hubby, of course) grabs her and kisses her and, though she resists, she can't help but give in. I'm sure lots of staring off into space on her part and sudden, shocking realizations of love on his part will follow. Puh-leeze. Life is too short; if I can't get through two chapters without gagging, the book is a goner.

The “hero” accosts his intended’s cousin after talking to her for an hour.

They try to put candles on the humongous Christmas tree.

The heroine is kinda unlikeable.

Lillian thinks West is cheating on her.

We hardly get any Daisy.

The narrator, who has been the narrator for the whole series, gets a major character’s voice totally wrong. And turns a 40 year old man into a 70 yr old with a lot of harrumphs.

Good for a loyal fan. I wouldn’t let this be your only Walflowers book.

Picked this one up on a whim off the new arrival shelf. I like Hannah and Rafe and now feel compelled to find the others in the series that I haven't read (#1-3).

Fun way to provide closure (or at least an update) on our fave wallflower couples, and I thought the foils of Natalie (confident, conventially beautiful peer) and Hannah (shy, naive maid) were clever.

But can we move away from these relationships rooted in dubious consent? No's that get overpowered into yes's are not romantic first kisses.

I don't even know where to start.. the bit when the Wallflowers take Hannah under their wing was very funny, but that was it. The mini-stories with Annabelle, Llilian, Evie and Daisy basically just showed how very active their sex lives are, and Hannah's story was completely ruined by the fact that Rafe is an absolute asshole for more than half the book. I guess I just expected more from Lisa Kleypas.

The Wallflowers are so delightful! Their scenes together are almost better than the love stories (... almost) simply because they are their own love story. The true and steadfast friendship of these women is a rare treat in the romance novel department. This novel was a perfect conclusion to the series, giving us a glimpse of the happily ever after of all the Wallflowers and their husbands; however, it was also a beautiful stand-alone story of Rafe and Hannah's love. I couldn't be happier having started this Christmas season with this novella!

I enjoyed the little peaks into the lives of our wallflowers however... the new pairing was... instalovey + the hero was just... (mildly) sexually abusive toward the heroine. It kind of made me uncomfortable (though I read a lot worse in the genre). The weird thing is that despite that I kinda liked them both and really enjoyed some scenes and Kleypas' ideas, but... I wish she approached some things a bit differently.
(I might be a bit too harsh, this was another insomniac read/listen...)

2.5 Stars.

I wasn't fond of how Rafe kept forcing Hannah to do things.
