To jeden z takich ostrzegawczych sygnałów (jeden z wielu...), jakie tzw.

Very good and ironic portrait of Russia. Not an easy read, though. And very biased against the country, too. But since it’s written by someone who has experienced contemporary Russia first-hand, I’m happy to look past it.

This is a series of essays about where Russia is out and the reclaiming of a totalitarian regime in the form of Putin. The book does an exceptional job of revealing the "scorch the earth" pysche of modern Russian and the vengeance fueled desire for glory and world prominence. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand the philosophical underpinnings of Putin, as well as the opposition and alternative (in the form of the author).

A very interesting series of personal essays (not academic research) from a respected scholar of the country; well written, thought-out and reflected with interesting insight.

I thought this would be a solid analysis of Russia's turn to fascism done by an insider, but this is not. It's just a collection of the author's thoughts on various topics, with casual imperialistic ones thrown in the mix.

I do not recommend this book.

A thorough insight into Russian culture and how it is ultimately shaped by its autocratic regime. As someone not fully versed in Russian politics and foreign relations, I found this book to be dense and chock-full of references that at this point I couldn't fully digest. However, reading this book still gave me a more nuanced understanding of the situation in Russia and in Ukraine. This is a book I'll certainly end up going back to.
