I’m just such a big fan of Ms Chaiverini and especially her Elm Creek series. I keep trying to savor the series but will be done soon. I guess I’ll just read them again. Elizabeth and her newlywed Husband Henry move to CA only
To find they were swindled. I waited for a few storylines to be wrapped up yet

I'm on a kick to finish some of the Elm Creek Quilter books that I haven't yet read. Because they are such easy reads, they are also pleasant ones.
The interesting thing about Chiaverini's series is that they don't go in a chronological order. They flit between centuries and various family members and yet you manage to track and understand how the stories all come together in the books written in present day.
The series appeals to me because of the art and stories (history) that is weaved into a good quilt.
In this book Elizabeth and Henry strike out from Pennsylvania and family to make their own way in California. But upon their arrival they find that what they thought they were coming to doesn't even exist...for them. They are both tested and tried in this tale of finding out where home really is.

I continue to enjoy this series an is a “go to” when I want a good audiobook. This story takes us away from Elm Creek- which I tend to not enjoy those stories in the series as much. This was good Ab I think I didn’t mind leaving Elm Creek as the reader gets to know about Aunt Elizabeth’s life, Sylvia’s favorite Aunt. I enjoyed the dual time line between early 1900’s and 1920-30’s. California is an intriguing state- so beautiful yet can be so hard with drought, Great Depression, and farming challenges highlighted in this story.

This Elm Creek Quilters book takes place in the 1920's, which is a time in history I haven't read much about. Very enjoyable.

Elizabeth Bergstrom loves horses and farms. So marrying Henry Nelson, a former friend and secret love, makes sense. His dream becomes hers to buy a ranch in Southern CA. Unfortunately this is the 1920's and the laws don't always coincide with expectations. Especially when they come to claim their land, and find out that it isn't exactly theirs to have.
This is a multi-layered plot filled with artistic tapestries.
There is love. Chivalry. Mean-spirited people. Mystery. Goodness. And resolution.
Good writing and able to read as a stand-alone.

The books in this series, some are historical fiction and some take place at the Elm Creek Manor quilting retreat. This book was entirely historical fiction taking place in the 1920s and around 1875. The two storylines are related and come together at the end. The end was a surprise. I thought I had it all figured out...not even a little bit. I love books like that!

Book 10 in the Elm Creek Quilter's series. This one goes back in time to the 1920s and the depression years in California. Like the other books, it involves an ancestor of Sylvia Compson, and like all her other ancestors, this woman quilts. Chiaverini has a nice formula. She writes about quilting, family, women and relationships and ties it all together with facts about quilting and patterns.
I enjoyed this novel, although not as much as I've enjoyed some of her others. This one was a very fast read. Enjoyable, but somewhat predictable. I was almost able to skim it and still enjoy the plot and characters. Elizabeth and her husband are taken by a con artist and purchase a farm that doesn't exist. They swallow their pride and work for the family who owns the property. I like Elizabeth's strength and her faith in herself and her husaband. If you've enjoyed the Elm Creek series, you will enjoy the book. It's not a necessary read to further the series though.
