This was one of the the best in this series. The main characters are well defined, but the interactions in this book gave them a little more dimension. Plus, I enjoyed the quirky humor.

Charming and endearing as ever. Thank you, Mr. Smith, for those moments of goodness.

I love all these books, but I found this one particularly endearing and sweet! A very enjoyable read.

Another great book for the series! I always enjoy them even ugh they get a little redundant after a while. Excited to see how the next one develops with Mma Makutsi's baby and becoming a partner!

I did like the book; it was well-written, the characters charming, and the descriptions beautiful. McCall Smith has a way of expressing insight into human behavior that in other authors might be Hallmark-precious, but he carries it off.
So would it be too much to ask to have Mma Ramotswe actually do some detecting? Both of the major plots are solved through coincidence -- people just happening to be there with crucial information. And neither case is actually wrapped up -- it appears to be enough that Mma Ramotswe knows the solution and will convey it at some point to the appropriate parties.
Sadly, a disappointing resolution to an otherwise enjoyable book.

I love these books. I tried reading another by this author but it didn't capture me.
There's something about life in Botswana - even though these books are paced slowly (and frankly there's not much investigating going on) the characters are well written and have unique and interesting personalities.
This is the fourth (I think) book I've read in this series, and I would read more!
