This book was especially heartbreaking because of how real it was. Wanjiru was so bold and vivid in painting the picture of the political scene and post election violence in Kenya. She touched on everything from abuse of power and corruption to class struggles , misogyny and infidelity. A very well written and captivating read.

Great first book from Wanjiru Koinange. I found it a bit difficult to get into the story at first, but once I did I stayed up to finish it. The story of an (upper) middle class family in Kenya and how the post election violence touched each of their lives. It is such a clear presentation of what politics means to this country. Highly recommended.

Very captivating story, my only gripe is the death of one of the main character, I didn't feel like it helped the story in any way, it didn't help resolve anything -- I don't know. It felt very unnecessary.
