Beautifully written and so well told. I learned a lot I didn’t know before hand. It honestly was one of the most depressing books I’ve ever read. So many sad lives, apart from the war and atrocities that happened. Generational trauma was everywhere.

This book doesn’t answer the burning question of who betrayed those in the Secret Annex, but instead it offers the reader a glimpse into what was life after the events of WWII and how those days left lasting impressions and scars for
Bep, and all those connected.

As time moves forward, we seem to be forgetting the tragic events that occurred in our history.

This book is amazing. I started it yesterday and I am already done. I haven't been able to put it down. I appreciate the opportunity that I have been given to be able to read this ARC, and know that this will be absolutely fascinating for those of us that are highly interested in historical texts and especially a view such as we received from Joop. Overall, I appreciated the insight that was given in the book, as well as his honest views of his own family life. I would love to read more if he publishes again.

Really interesting to get a different perspective on the life of those in hiding. The last part of the book shifts in focus to the author's own family.

I thought is was interesting to read the side of history as one of the people who helped the Secret Annex. I found it shared many emotions and shared some hard family traumas. Sadly war has no winners and everyone loses.

Thank you to the 2 authors for sharing.
