It took me forever to read this book because I wanted to be able to sit down on it and focus but life was conspiring against me. The benefit is that when I most needed it, I finished the book, leaving me feeling like I was getting a warm hug from two old friends.

Another very enjoyable book from Hogarth! This one doesn't have nearly the tension of the the first two, even though this is a cozy series, but the characters (new and old) are still so enjoyable that the book is a joy to read. Looking forward to #4!

Set in Hogarth's Pelted science-fiction universe, this is the third book about Jahir and Vasiht'h, a pair of non-human xenopsychologists. I like the universe and love these two central characters, but would strongly encourage beginning with the opening installment in their story, Mindtouch, a quietly moving book that I entirely love. For me, this book hasn't got quite the gentle surety of Mindtouch, nor the intensity of Mindline (the second book), but it was still my delight to spend more time with Jahir and Vasiht'h, watching them find their way in the world. I plan to devour the rest of their adventures in short order. Highly recommended.
About my reviews: I try to review every book I read, including those that I don't end up enjoying. The reviews are not scholarly, but just indicate my reaction as a reader, reading being my addiction. I am miserly with 5-star reviews; 4 stars means I liked a book very much; 3 stars means I liked it; 2 stars means I didn't like it (though often the 2-star books are very popular with other readers and/or are by authors whose other work I've loved).

Soothing
The best word to describe this book is “soothing.”
It touches your heart, lifts the edges of your lips in a smile, and wraps you in a warm hug. Satisfying and gentle, and a lovely addition to this series.
