Wasn't as enjoyable as the previous few. The story struggled somewhat with predictability and clichés and did feel a lot like a filler/middle story for the series. Introducing upcoming characters and future stories.

The meek pushover character, who may or may not get their small victories here and there, isn't my jam either. Can't relate with the constant wallowing, self-pity, resentment and quiet suffering, while just letting people bulldoze over you and backing/ doubling down even when friends stand up for you.

Firstly, so fun to get to see how things are at a raider camp. After the first two books were largely travel-based it was fun to see the world building expand into what a camp dynamic looks like. I loved Ghost and his anxiety and it was so nice to see Aury opening up because of him. I didn’t like this one quite as much as Edin but it was still good!!

I jumped into this book expecting much of the same as the previous ones and I wasn't disappointed.

I really enjoyed learning more about the Wastes in this one. How the camps are handling the situation etc. It was a lovely little world building part.

The reason this one got the 3 stars and not 4 was because of one thing. It only resolved one of its problems. The other two books had been complete, so to speak, there were no loose ends to tie up. But this one had one left and I don't like that.

The characters were good, it's nice to see the expansion of the Monsters as well in this book.

If there is going to be more books in this series I look forward to reading them. The 3 books have been a journey and I've enjoyed reading about the characters lives.

I love this series with my heart and soul. Aury is so broken and sweet and aghhhh I love him so much. It's kinda cool to have an actual... Kinda bloodthirsty and scary monster. This one was more brutal and gorey. Loved the detail of a dangerous raider life! Can't wait to read Gloam.

Another monster couple, another win.

The first book in the series that explores darker and gray-er themes. So far, it has been difficult to view MC (and some side character) monsters in this series as anything but good. They are caring, loving, and the violence is instigated by some outside baddies. It objectively is easy to root for them. The Rycke makes a deviation here and we have the first monster with whom it is not so black and white.
I wish the author would not try to fix that by teaching Aury self-control, but instead leaving him as a more complex and gray character. It would be the perfect setting to explore the good and bad, the right and wrong of this new human-monster world. But it is not that kind of book.

I enjoyed myself immensely, and this dystopian gay paradise is my new favourite fantasy world :)

these two had no business being as cute as they were. it pains me to say it, but wyn and danny have officially been pushed to the side. gage and aury are my new favorites and i need about 14 more books of them to be fully satisfied 🤭
