Like its protagonist, this book peaked really early. The first few pages have some of the best portrayals of loneliness and city imagery that I have ever read. We then go on to follow the protagonist’s metamorphosis into full-blown incel. Luckily, the story is so short if finishes before it gets old.

I would like to personally thank Luke Thompson (of Bridgerton fame) for narrating this book and being the only reason that I even finished this book.
I think if this book was meant as a satire to illustrate the fallibility of falling in love with the image we have of people or some form of commentary on men and women relationships, I would have liked it more. But alack and alas, it was painfully earnest.
If I wanted to experience a mid twenty year old claim he is far too whimsical for reality and how tough it is to “fall in love” so easily to a girl (an underaged one) who he can’t have because she loves someone else (and then continuously lament that he has the fate of being the “nice guy”). Then I’d rewatch 500 Days of Summer. Or read a Reddit post.
