Me ha gustado mucho tanto que la narración sea en primera persona como que los autores presenten las diferentes etapas creativas de la carrera de David Bowie con pinceladas de realismo mágico, me parece una forma muy bonita de conocer su historia. Además, las ilustraciones de María Hesse encajan a la perfección en esta obra.

I love David Bowie and have for a long time. His colorful and unique nature has always seemed well suited for a graphic novel. Maria Hesse and Fran Ruiz's interpretation of a life not well documented and done after the man left this mortal plane, is lovingly and gorgeously realized. I want to read it again and give it a permanent home on my personal bookshelf. I also would love to know how Bowie himself would've liked it.

Es un libro fantásticamente ilustrado, peeero no me ha llegado a emocionar mucho. Y, no conociendo en exceso la vida de Bowie, no siento que lo conozca mucho mejor después de leer el libro. Como anteriormente había leído la biografía de Frida Khalo, no podía evitar compararla todo el rato. Esa me encantó, me emocionó y la devoré en unas horas; éste no.

This biography is a beautiful, funny, haunting story of the legendary David Bowie. It is told in the first person as Bowie and contains some fantastical details - ie not real - to tell his life story, alongside real, researched information. I loved the blend of unreal and real to tell an amazing tale, it felt true to the spirit of Bowie. I also loved the art, which was gorgeous and just the right amount of triply when needed.

Highly recommend this for Bowie fans and young people who maybe don’t know much about Bowie but, like him, feel like an alien walking alone on Earth.

Hesse's art is beautiful, especially the last few pages of the graphic biography. I wish the narration could have gone a bit deeper than it did. But overall, a fantastic read.

Beautiful, but it would be so much better if it was written in 3rd person - it feels a bit like reading a child’s diary.

Una graphic novel semplice ma molto efficace. I disegni sono di una bellezza, anche in questo caso, semplice ma unica, con uno stile particolare e variegato che, a parer mio, ben si addice a David Bowie. Ho apprezzato molto anche la scelta degli autori di non realizzare una biografia dettagliata e precisa in tutto e per tutto: l’immedesimazione in Bowie e la scrittura in prima persona, con una narrazione degli eventi spesso approssimativa e fantasiosa, è ben conforme al cantante, che ha sempre celato dietro numerose maschere e recitazioni la propria vita privata.

Le ultime pagine, con una narrazione concisa e dei disegni magistrali, sono riuscite a commuovermi, proprio come mi commuovono gli ultimi momenti di vita di Bowie ogni volta che mi ritrovo a pensarci.

“Di un paso adelante y me adentré con calma en la oscuridad hasta que ésta me rodeó por completo. Me preparé para desaparecer en la nada. Solo que allí había algo más. Miré delante de mí y sonreí. Pero lo que vi, no lo desvelaré.”

I quite like this Spanish graphic version if Bowie’s life. Right up front the authors explain that rather than sticking to pure historical details they intentionally take some science fiction liberties with Bowie’s story. In my mind they succeeded absolutely, at finding an idea of what some of Bowie’s inner experience may have been through this authorial self-permission. This is one of the clearest and most linear Bowie books I have read.
